Flynn is a smart and educated man, he was told by his attorney he did not have to plead guilty and then again later he was told by the Judge he did not have to plead guilty and under oath he told the Judge he wanted to plead guilty. You do realize that Flynn didn't get into trouble for violating the Logan Act, but rather for lying to the FBI - that's what he was nailed for.
