According to https://www.farandwide.com/s/expensive-foods-world-2660407d005c4ce9, this are the top 10 states: 10. Maine 9. Washington 8. New Jersey 7. Oregon 6. Tennessee 5. Illinois 4. Texas 3. Louisiana 2. New York 1. California most surprising, for me, Florida is ranked 46 the state is huge and certainly has some awesome places to eat. Miami’s food scene, for one, is fantastic (order all the Cuban sandwiches) and the coasts produce some excellent seafood. The problem is that, despite being a diverse state, Florida carries a weird torch for bland chain restaurants. Orlando has more fast-food restaurants per capita than any other city in the country. Hooters and Burger King were both founded in the state, as was something called Tijuana Flats that has over 100 locations, looks like a worse version of Taco Bell, and boasts charmingly named hot sauces like Jason’s Mom’s and Smack My Ass & Call Me Sally. i'm also surprised that Pennsylvania is not in the top ten
the variety / quality / creativity of Asian cuisine in Louisiana---ranging from Chinese, Korean, japanese, Thai, Indonesian, Malaysian, Indian, Vietnamese, Burmese, etc---- is below par as compared to Cali and NY don't think the Louisiana food scene has these Asian fusion items BBQ duck pizza Indian fusion pizza Korean style burritos / Taco Chinese style Empanadas, Japanese-style Ceviche, etc.
About the only thing I like about Louisiana is the creole and cajun food, but I'm a sucker for heat so I like the viet-cajun style more. I'm surprised they're that high, though, because when I think of Louisiana, that's all I think about it. At least with California, NY, and Texas, I can think of multiple types of cuisines. BTW, @adoo , your link seems to go to the most expensive foods in the world. Is that the correct link?
When I think of Tennessee, I think of the best fried chicken, but if you're a southern food, make-your-doctor-faint type, it's a good state to try all kinds of stuff you probably shouldn't over-indulge in from the "Southern" menu.
California has some amazing food. They are definitely 1 or 2. Texas should be #3, but I can see the case for Louisiana.
yeah and rest of us have lived there for many years just because you have korea fusion with french nipple meat its still a major yawn.. if you are talking views i recommend california market at pacifics edge in carmel, jakes in del mar and of course mister As
i know..everyone here has been there..lived there. i think its funny when people say stuff like that like we dont know about california and dog meat at rubios being closest thing to normal meat thats not boiled ...barf
California is too high and Texas is too low. New York or Texas is first. Illinois at #5 gets a chuckle from me, the food scene in Chicago is strong but the rest of the state is terrible for food.
I havent hit all 50 states, but I have been to quite a few working with restaurants because of my trade. I have Houston and NYC as the best food cities and I cant see why their states aren't 1&2. I havent been to North California so maybe I'm missing something. Louisiana? They do Creole & Cajun better than Houston for sure, but we still have amazing options in our city plus all the other cuisines.
