Revolvers are inherently reliable, but they have a slower rate of fire, reduced capacity (limited to usually 6 rounds), and reloading time takes longer...There are reliable "automatic" pistols as listed above, and they have the tactical/self-defense edge in firepower, follow-up shots and reloading ease...
