It's like codependency in a narcissistic relationship. They are used to being bullied by the narcissist, and believe it's deep down all their fault.
Many have wanted this, but the Elections Clause of the Consitution has been interpreted to give much authority to states in this arena. This interpretation is generally in line with states' rights and is mostly backed by conservative juresprudence. The attack against states' elections rules has only recently become a Trump Republican thing. Prior to COVID, Republicans have heavily favored states deciding rules such as variation in stricter voter ID laws for voting and deciding who could vote (like ex felon status). It's pretty obvious that these recent criticisms of the elections system are 99% motivated by the fact that Trump is probably going to lose the election, but I'm open to seeing all challenges go through the legal process. It's their money and their right to follow the actions of a petulant man-child.
i mostly lurk but i just keep seeing this talking point of how great trump or even republicans in general are always so great for the economy and its just not true so i had to reply. I am not trying to do gotcha moment either. Just giving numbers
