I agree with that argument. Pander to people's shallowness and like another poster said on here, get someone like Dwayne Johnson to be the face of your party and have him hire brainy people to his cabinet to enact effective policy. Make him your front man to simplify the message and pander to your lowest common denominators.
He has a brain, he just does not care. He knows with Trump he has a President that will go to endless lengths to grab power and subvert the checks and balances. Graham likes it because Trump is pushing a political agenda he likes, and by supporting Trump he sees his power in the administration increase. Graham doesn’t give a damn about democracy in the USA. He is openly telling the electoral voters to defy the election results of the people. I doubt he will pursue it, but an argument can be made that is treason and Graham should be punished.
Eh, there's not much joy in "own the cons" - everybody is too old and too tired of our broken down political system, and technically ownage requires that you have some shared reality - Red America now has it's own epistemology that's effectivley closed off from the real world, an ownage doesn't result in any sheepish admission of wrongness and a return to the fold, it results in tripling down of ever-more-insane mythology.
I get it, but the Democrats still suck at messaging...and then they create slogans like “defund the police” that get used against them and hurt them making it easier to call them radical and dangerous so many people had no clue about what Biden’s actual policies are
No, we shouldn’t vote online...look at the Equifax leak it’s too easy to manipulate a massive amount of votes if that were to ever happen. If anything we should go back to paper ballots.
I wonder what great state Republican Sen. Pat Toomey represents. Spoiler: for the lazy ... Pennsylvania, the state that pushes soon-to-be President Biden over the finish line
Well Green New Deal is Dead. Public Option is Dead. Preserving ACA if SCOTUS rules against it is Dead. Hopefully senate GOP will not kill future COVID relief efforts but I suspect they will. These next two years will be lame duck.
it doesnt have to be a joke either. cuomo despite his hate here is honestly dems best shot.. john stewart is funny but too soft. again you gotta think "who would miami guy vote for" its a tough macho dem. george clooney is good looking dude and has been active politically..di caprio can be there. add the dem base and wipe the floor with anyone. people here hate cuomo and i only know him from the virus and besides some nurse home stuff they acknowleged he was a star in covid dailys. he took over the whole country it was interesting.. he would win and where i sit macho texas guy not knowing jack about him...hes a little too guido but "tell it like it is" i fall for it too cuomo clooney 2024
I tend to agree with you. Going with a moderate message was the only way to defeat Trump. That said, I still think Biden was a poor choice even though I still thought Biden was going to win. I also thought it was going to be decisive, but yet here we are with a razor thin margin of victory. This could have very easily gone the other way, and to an extent, still could. Biden did everything right. All it would have taken was one of his incoherent spells in the national debate to sink him. Or some BS false scandal. Trump on the other hand fumbled the entire election. If we didnt have COVID, Trump would have smashed this election. All he had to do was encourage people to wear masks if they felt comfortable and social distance. He didnt have to embrace massive shutdowns and other draconian measures. The 3rd term comments absolutely hurt him too. While I find his election fraud claims disgusting, he could have done it in a less rabid way that would have appealed to more people.
I think a majority of the Democratic field would have won this (I'd name examples of losers but that's just looking for an extra argument at this point). COVID and Trump's response to it basically sank his battleship outright. Biden may end up with 7 million more votes and 300+ in the EC, but make no mistake, this race was insanely close when it should have been another blowout. Beyond that, down ballot was a significant disappointment. It may be true that Biden unlocked more conservative states like GA and AZ that a more liberal nominee would have cratered in, but we also have John McCain and Stacey Abrams to thank here as well. When the data comes back I think we're going to see that Biden didn't move the needle for those suburban Republicans like they hoped he would. Democrats have this hopeless fantasy of winning over disaffected conservatives that is going to doom them going forward if they think 2020 is affirmation of that strategy.
there’s still a shot with the 2 runoff elections for Senate in GA they better send Stacey Abrams some help down there to mobilize even more voters to get out and vote in January because we know the GOP will be making it known that the Dems must be put in check by a Republican Senate let people know that if u want a Covid stim bill passed that will actually help small businesses and the working class survive, the ACA to be improved upon, etc, the Democrats need the Senate...these things will improve people’s lives
GOP has yet to win the Senate. Both Senate races in Georgia are headed to a runoff on January 5th. It will be 50-48 until then. With Kamala Harris as the tie break vote. Biden is also way more likely to reach across party lines than Trump did in the house.
Well when you put it that way, YUP. There's got to be a creative way to do this type of thing. Like, if Trump can declare a national emergency to steal money to build a wall, and the courts will bless it, Biden can do it too for various things. Basically, we have to use all of hte abusive powers we were worried Trump was going to use and did use and basically tell the courts to **** off when necessary, like he frequently did. Or we need a new constitution or something.
