Yeah Bill O'Brien had a ton of confidence behind his voice and he was full of straight BS. Tired of great presentations and interviewers. I want the guy that can get the damn job done.
Personally i expect Harden to be out of here in a year, Stone i don't know, and i don't even know if it matters, if Morey couldn't make his decisions, Stone certainly won't, and that's probably true for every gm that will succeed him until that gm will be Patrick Fertitta.
Considering the guy is a Stanford Law School-educated lawyer who left a pretty big firm in New York to come to the Rockets and is known for being a negotiator, I'm sure he's pretty decent at speaking. I don't expect him to get on stage and do a Bruno Mars impression -- just don't seem like an idiot is enough for me. lol.
Albert Einstein is widely credited with saying, "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results." Mike Dantoni offense is Insanity repeating the same thing since 2017. But smaller Players at Center.
You guys never watched Daryl Morey Press Conference as a Rookie GM. Daryl literally was stuttering words and has awkward nerd body language looking nervous back then.
Did I watch the same presser? Thought they both did great. I’m excited, I like both of their attitudes.
true. But Morey was a early/mid 30s ‘nerd’ guy who didn’t have much forward exposure. Not a near 50 year old who has a back ground in M&a and law so one would think he’s had plenty of opportunity to refine public perception. Overall, it really doesn’t matter, of course, so long as he does a good job.
None at all. He seems like a BIG step down from Maury. I hope he's just nervous. One thing I did like was him saying he'd like to provide more optionality of either going small or big. We need a big or 2 to protect the paint. We can't be giving up lay ups every time down.
They are truly terrible at PR. Nobody in the world believes them. All they need to do is say "we're always searching for moves that make sense for our organization", but instead they say money isn't a concern and set themselves up to look like morons when they inevitably make moves entirely to save money. Embarrassing franchise at this point
yep this stuttering interim GM straight lyin thru his teeth -- every single, EVERY SINGLE trade transaction under tilfuk has resulted in less salary per season. and the covington trade (which stone himself allegedly masterminded) dropped us several million below the taxline but unlike other teams, we're willing to spend!
Psychological tells from Silas... he really wants to make his father proud and he is clearly working harder than anyone to finally prove he deserves this opportunity ... reminds me of finally landing the girl of your dreams and you work harder than anyone else to make her happy and show her worth... also, he is very deflective regarding success and kept pushing others forward when successes were brought up (players, mentors, opportunities that he was afforded, etc..) Excellent signs of leadership and determination
Especially for a lawyer. Yikes. Almost tries to sound like Morey but lacks any conviction or snarkiness. Going to miss Morey, he was not just uber intelligent but he had a rare guile to go with his out of the box vision. Stone is just a bit over his head methinks. Patrick needs to hire Shane Battier pronto.
Not saying less Iso at all but simply more actions to promote more motion and options. This is perfect!!!
Still need Shane Battier in that think tank. Stone may be a numbers cruncher but eye for talent is yet to be proven. Need a real basketball mind in that FO.
Silas needs to ease up on laughing or any appearance of putting down Rockets offense OR defense. Rockets offense AND defense were clearly more productive than anything Mavs produced.
Silas is young, but he is flexible and smart. It seems like Stone is already communicating with him to present different options, if they arise. I have a gut feeling Stone will give Silas a free hand. TF and PF will need a lot of convincing to use the MLE, or even making trades. Stone was embarrassed when that question was put through to him. Lucas will act as a bridge for Stephen/ Harden/ Russ. That’s fine, but additional capable assistants with mostly defensive experience are clearly needed. I like the Silas hire. My gut feeling is Stone wants change, but convincing ownership to make change is going to be tough. Our options are limited. Let’s hope for the best. @ApacheWarrior
