    Bring back Jeff Bzdelik.

    This would give the players a sense of familiarity and they know Jeff can coach defense because they have proven his system works with right players.

    Lucas has been around for Turner and Bzdelik. He's also been a head coach 3 times. Not to mention Silas just spent two seasons under Carlisle who is an excellent defensive coach that happens to have a severe lack of defensive talent on his hands right now.

    I'm not worried. I know Tilman went for the cheap choice (Silas + Lucas + Stone, the ultimate discount package) but he may have lucked into some excellent people. I'm not sure about Stone, his resume reads like someone who is perfect for cutting expenses and focusing on the Rockets as a financial asset rather than a ball club too. He does seem to be impressively talented though.

    Hire Lucas as offensive assistant and Bzdelik as defensive assistant utilizing same rationale as hiring Hornacek and McMillan.

    Then hire Shane Battier as President of Basketball Operations and first order of priority is to reconstruct a modern player development program.

    Houston's current staffing and overall support in this area is an embarrassment.
