Les Alexander didn't have to sell the Rockets but he did it for greed

This is because the majority of Clutchfans are newbs and don’t bother learning about the history of the team.
This was quite obvious with some fortnite weed smoking poster was excited about JVG and mentioned that he took the Knicks to finals but completely forgot to read the he coached the Tmac rockets in the google search article.

You think these poser fans even know about Les from day one ? Do they know about Louisville?
No and they don’t want to because they join Clutchfans to preach that they know everything because they watch ESPN and read realgm all day

they aren’t real Clutchfans by the original definition

I’ll take casinos and cheap food
Over junk bonds and predatory student loans
    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leslie_Alexander_(businessman)

Alexander began his career as an attorney. From 1978 to 2009, he was a member of the California State Bar.[6] His first job was trading options and bonds for the Wall Street firm, Lawrence Kotkin Associates. In 1980, he left to form his own investment company, The Alexander Group. He also owns an 18.5% stake in First Marblehead, a private student loan company.[7]

The pure owner should be Elon Musk
Cause he is in the Rockets business

I said almost - they had a very public spat and Hakeem was nearly traded for amongst other people, Stanley Roberts!

The beef between Dream and Steve Patterson was due to contracts and 'injury'.
That Dream was a different guy before he became involved in his spirituality.

Charlie Thomas was all about HOUSTON and the community and legacy of Houston athletes.

The only good thing about Tilman is he is a Houston guy I'll give Les that. As much as Houstonians want to say the Rockets aren't a profitable team because fan turnout is low at games, The Rockets is one of the most profitable franchises in all of sports. Even with China pulling out the Houston franchise was sttil in the top 10 or something crazy on Forbes. There aren't too many places (if any) The Rockets could move to make it more profitable.

Granted last year Forbes had the Rox valuation at #7 of the NBA franchises - which is damn good... but there are a few factors to consider...

#1 - we're ridin some however long playoff streak, in the MVP race with Harden every year, and with Morey we've consistently been an upper level team... so is it about location or 'prosperity' - and as so many have predicted 'are the good times really over for good' with the loss of DM and WBs contract...? Look at how the valuation of the Cavs fluctuated with Brons comings and goings...
#2 - how much were previous numbers inflated with China revenue vs where will that revenue level be going forward? Is the China/Yao Ming connection dried up due to Morey's tweet or will it return?

So throwing those uncertainties into the mix... and if we hop back on the 'treadmill of mediocrity'... adding poor game attendance... would it really be a lock for another potential owner not to potentially move the team...

I have no love for Tilman whatsoever... but i do think he assures the team staying in Houston...

    jus wonderin aloud... lol

It's business after all. Sell and take the cash for retirement.

    Cool let's see
Why are we taking the lesser of two evils here. Just admit that both are terrible owners! They both have no idea what it takes to be a champion.

fwiw: The new owner of the Jazz is a young, local fan with a net worth of $1.3B

At just 42 yrs old, he just recently got rich by selling his family's new startup tech company for $8b, split 4 ways. (Qualtrics only had $200-300m revenue.) Does he even have sustainable revenue sources? I guess maybe his dad and brother can give him loans from the split of profits, if they're stupid Jazz fans, too.

Apparently I’m selling my house for “greed.” I don’t want it anymore. I have other plans. But I’m greedy, and instead of keeping it when I don’t actually want or need it, I’m being a greedy ******* by selling it. Makes sense...

Because the non 99ers don’t know or don’t care about Rockets history
They paint this picture of Les Alexander based on their low IQ and fake love for all things Rockets.
Also, the majority of these fans don’t even know where Houston is.

Tilman may have just created the new method of getting Ws in the NBA. May not.

How many people are watching your house as a hobby and are fully invested in your wall sconces and how good your drapes and blinds look on the windows every year? This is a bad metaphor.

This thread is incredibly dumb. Les sold the team at market price to a guy who, by all accounts, seemed to love and be dedicated to the city and its sports teams. The unfortunate thing is that it turns out Tilman is a moron, a jerk, AND he won't spend. The anger toward Tilman is warranted. He took a team with arguably the best player in the game and turned it into a sinking ship.

But you blame Les? What was Les supposed to do?

This is like blaming your 5th grade teacher for abandoning you and not joining you in junior high.

Why didn't Jerry Bus not sell the Lakers? He kept that team til he died and he this kids inherited.

they could easily sell the team for billions.

les sold the team like people sell anything, they don't want it

It's because some of us can't and will never forgive an owner who bought a championship ready Franchise and tried to move it to another city. That will forever be stained in the hearts of old time Rockets fans. Watch the Clutchcity documentary. Rudy T wasn't trying to win for just his ego or for the franchise. He wanted to win to bring some sort of pride to a city that at the time needed it. The city was still feeling the effects of the oil crash. The city was a dump. Downtown looked like a post apocalyptic sheet hole. In the words of Rudy T. No one wore Rockets Jerseys. Everyone wore Jordan, Lakers or some Jersey for some other team. Rudy T and Hakeem changed that for us. LES DID NOT! NOT only that he took the original Trophies to Florida! He didn't block the Starks shot in NYC! He didn't tip in the ball against the magic to tie. He didn't shoot the 3 to win it. So yes alot of us feel like Les is a piece of sheet who could have just kept signing checks since he has practically profited from all of us/China for almost 20 years. If he really cared for the Rockets he could have also sold it for less than the ridiculous market price since he has already made an insane profit off the original purchase price. Even at 1.5 billion he has already made more than double than what he originally paid for it. Might have helped Tilman pay the Luxury Tax to get better players.
So no it isn't like the 5th grade teacher who didn't follow you to junior high.
It's more like the 5th grade teacher that you actually thought cared for you and your grades but who is really a home wrecker/ con artist that banged your dad or mom and stole all the family money. You are then glad to never see that teacher again but you just ended up in a junior high with a teacher that is constantly sodomizing you.

@tinman I don't always love your schtick but I kind of see why you stand so strong on being a Rocket fan. Lots of fair weather fans on here. You won't find me rooting for another team because the Rockets stink. I'll put a bag on my head and boo the Salt Grass Sultans while cheering on the team as the Rockets go down in flames.
