I don't think JVG should air laundry in public, both with Francis (superbowl thing could've easily been done behind close doors) and Yao (don't call out your players in public). I think Yao's fatigue happens because of the summer games but the Rox knew that when drafting him. It was one of the cons in his draft profile but the Rox decided they could live with so it's a mute point. Besides, if Yao wants to play for his nt, he should.

But what I find curious is how a lot of the people that's defending JVG in this instance were the people that bashed him when he talked about any other players. At the same time, a lot of people criticizing JVG in this instance is the same people that supported him when JVG was bashing Steve.

Why can't people just suppor the team and it's players instead of taking sides and splitting the team up

    LMAO

I don't post much, I usually just lurk .... Having said that, this post was too funny not to respond. I know juggie has a reputation as a troll, and this post is just hilarious.

I, more than anyone, hope that Yao proves his detractors wrong. He is going to have a HUGE opportunity to do that. I think everyone is confusing his heart with his physical conditioning. Yao was just not an NBA level athlete last year. The rockets staff should be commended for the huge leap forward he took this year.

Yao WILL carry the load one day. The question is when ???

I am not sure What 's JVG's intention, Everyone agrees that he is super smart guy. I think what he said in the interview does something good to team before playoff starting: 1) cleans up the mess between him and Steve; ( Imply that he is fair to everyone, when Yao said something wrong, he also point out). It's very important for Steve to focus on playoff games, specially after so many trade talk; 2) Motivates Yao dramatically, otherwise Rockets no chance to survive the first round; 3) Make who is the man in this team clearly, want Yao to take resposibility now!

    touche` ... my point exactly ...

though if you mean the NBA championships in your "won anything" reference, not many current coaches have that type of pedigree.

I said long ago it(Yao being tired) is a myth. Only now are Jeff Van Gundy and Yao clarifying it.

if the fans of the rockets have the privileges to complain yao being worn out by chinese national program, then chinese people certainly do have the rights to concern the negative effects from 82-game nba season.if the rockets fans can call a "release" because of yao's contract obligation, then chinese people are ready to demand a "let go" because of yao's citizen obligation.but since the rockets and the cba already have an agreement, why don't we all just drop this subject.

yao actually did whine a lot.but now yao must take jvg's comments the positive way and motivate himself, since it's the only way,the only way to be a great player.

Everyone knows he's tired and i hope as he gets through this summer he'l realize that playing for the NT doesn't help. Its a reason why many nba guys don't want to play or just want to play 1 time bacause the nba itself is a grind. Maybe after this summer its his last for the NT and he'll really show the player he can be without the strain of playing for the NT. Its not called being defective, its called being smart.

On top of that, we never heard hakeem talk about fatigue during ramadan when he had to play day games and he couldn't even drink water during those times. I remember him playing a sunday game against Shaq and puttin up 30 without the benefit of 1 cup of water. JVG is right, play ball.

You don't want to go there, because Dream "whines" about foul calls through out his career. Dream would've been called out by JVG if he had been his coach.

First of all, JVG would never have called out Dream because Dream brought it every single night. He was as consistently great as any player I have ever seen.

Secondly, to complain about being fouled is different than saying your tired. Big difference. Not to mention the fact, that Dream played through the bad calls. He never let it affect his game.
