It was the western conference finals and it was ABC that was saying it not TNT if i remember correctly
Most of our games will likely be broadcast nationally, although there's really no guarantee that all of them will be. For the first round, we have the option of doing a side-by-side broadcast on 51 if it's a TNT or ESPN game. It's just an option, though ... either way, fans in Houston should be able to see the game. There will be no blackouts, and no PPV. Tim
Hey Tim This has nothing to do with the playoffs, but I was wondering if I can find a Rockets drawstring backpack somewhere. I've checked all the stores in the mall but found nothing. Do you know if they make it and if I can find it at the Rockets shop? Thanks
We gave them away to kids whose parents bought Family Pack tickets to last night's game, and we also gave some to some of our first year season ticket holders. It's not something we sell in the store, but if there's sufficient demand we could always consider it. Tim
YES please!!!! I've been looking for it everywhere for the longest time!!! I want it so bad, I was even considering the Timberwolves one [my 2nd favorite team]
Thanks for the info Tim ... It really sucks that the NBA isn't able to work something out for those of us that put the big bucks down for the NBA League Pass. I am going to be very upset if I cannot watch a playoff game. Why should I pay money for the package next year when I know that eventually when they are in the playoffs I will be unable to see the game? It seems like even the NHL has playoff games running on its "Center Ice" package. I know its not anything you or the Rockets can do something about, but I think the NBA needs to rethink some of their strategies.
I agree. I live in Phoenix, AZ and i bought League Pass and I am going to be LIVID if I miss a single playoff game! Hopefully all of the games will be broadcast nationally... I am thinking that ABC/ESPN/TNT will have to pick up all the games?
Why would you be livid? League Pass has never marketed itself as showing playoff games. It is expressly stated in all of their advertising that it is for the regular season. The following is from th NBA.com website: "With NBA LEAGUE PASS, you will be able to see up to 40 out-of-market regular season games a week. Every televised NBA game not available on national TV is included in the package. Local blackout restrictions apply. Playoffs are not included in NBA LEAGUE PASS." That said, I don't recall a single playoff game I wanted to see that wasn't on TNT last playoff season.
Just make sure you've called your cable company and that NBA TV is turned on, if your system gets it (most do) ... the league is going to use that to broadcast some of the games that won't fit on ESPN/TNT/ABC. Tim
GATER, you are missing the point completely ... The NBA is a big enough league and sport to make sure that all of their playoff games are available to everyone even if we have to pay for it. I paid for league pass and knew that does not include playoffs. Why not charge extra for the playoffs or something? This is the main showcase of the league. They NEED to get their product out to the people. The NBA is the 3rd sport in America and if there is any doubt about that, then just look at football and baseball playoffs. There is no way that there woul be a single game that is not on TV in their playoffs. Hell, I think even the NHL allows fans to watch the playoffs via the "Center Ice" package. That said, I do believe that most or all of the games will be available on ABC, TNT, ESPN, or NBATV. But it still irks me that there is the possibility of a game not being shown.
Thanks for clarifying for me.. that is all i was indicating. i know that LP does not show playoff games.. I was just saying, I hope I DO NOT miss any games.. !!!! I would not be able to focus! Tim, thanks for the info.
Tim or anyone: what would the playoff schedule look like if we play the lakers: Game 1 at LA Sunday, April 18 Game 2 at La, Wednesday, April 21 Game 3 home, Friday, April 23 Game 4 home, Sunday, April 25 Game 5 at LA if needed? Game 6 Houston, if needed? Game 7 at LA, if needed? if we play Sac-town?
We won't know until laaaate tonight or more likely tomorrow, when the league releases the playoff schedules. There's no special insider information to be had on this one -- they wait for the pairings to be finalized, and then release it as quickly as they can. Tim
Tim, I noticed that the Monday game (Game 2) will be on TNT. Does this mean that it won't be shown on KNWS 51? What about the games on ESPN? Can we assume that these will all be shown on 51? Many of us Houston fans do not have cable and depend on TV 51 for our Rockets fix. Thanks.
Rockets.com has been updated and the Rockets vs. Lakers will be on CH.51 even the TnT game. The only one that will not be is game 4 and that is on ABC. Thanks Tim. I was getting worried since the site didn't say anything about CH. 51 earlier.
i'm still unsure. like you said, if you visit the main page then yes, TV51 is listed. however, if you check out the top right of the page (where it says NEXT GAME), the only tv listing is ESPN. also, if you check out the rockets' schedule page, nothing's listed under local TV. anybody know for sure whether the games will be televised on tv51?
Yea, I noticed the schedule page too but since Tim said something about it being on both TV 51 and the national feed and someone said that Matt Bullard said on the radio that the games will be on 51, I wouldn't worry too much about it not listed everywhere on the site. It may not have been completely updated. I'm just happy that it says CH.51 somewhere on Rockets.com.
In the first round of the playoffs, we have the option to do a side-by-side broadcast on our local station as long as the game is not on ABC. We took those options. The second round, both ABC and TNT get exclusives, although ESPN side-by-sides are still allowed. Tim
