Read some of the Twitter quotes from a reporter that covered him in Charlotte. Silas is really good at player development and he’s very good at X’s and O’s on the offensive end of the court. The Mavericks had one of the best offenses in NBA history this season, and it was Luka, Porzingis (when he was healthy enough to play) and a lot of spare parts.

He also worked under a JVG disciple in Charlotte (Steve Clifford), so he understands a lot of defensive principles, too.

Lol I bet Tilman scrambled to announce this after the Morey news to distract the media / fans.

I'll give Silas a chance, but I'll be highly suspect of him being a Tilly puppet who gets bulldozed by Harden.

What? Is there a Rooney Rule in the NBA that I didn't know about?

Honestly, I don't see how you can call it that anymore, given who comprises the majority of the league since the 60s...

Darren Erman and Nate McMillan still available.

But if I'm Silas, I'd steal Chris Quinn from the Heat.

He is the development coach responsible for Duncan Robinson, Tyler Herro, Derrick Jones and Kendrick Nunn being such critical factors on a Finals team.

And look for Chris Silva and KZ Okpala to break out this season for same reasons.

People like change when things are bad, JVG would've been just a more of the same for some people, while SIlas is something new that can turn into another Nick Nurse etc.

Personally, regardless of who the coach was going to be, i don't think much is going to change with the players we have, but i like Silas, he has a solid background with great coaches and he'll be a good fit even if we end up in a rebuild process (which is what i expect to happen in a year or two anyway).

Lucas and Elston Turner will probably be the assistant coaches, right?

6 man rotations and small ball are done! Player development and mid range jump shots are back! Great day for the Rockets. Although, Morey signing with Philly after saying he's stepping away from the game, stings.
