So, virtually everyone who pays attention then? Morey has been a top-tier GM in this league for many years. Everyone knows this and gives him the respect he deserves outside of, I guess... Shaq, Charles Barkley and a few weirdos on CF?
I don't find them mutually exclusive. Tilman is a dirtbag and Morey is a weasel. He was under contract. He publicly claimed he wanted some time off with his family and finds a new job hours later. He's always lied to the public to control his narrative. He's an opportunist. Good for him. Doesn't make him some folk hero. He backed off his retweet within minutes and he left the franchise in shambles even though Tilman is a big part of that.
Won't be surprised if James Harden requests a trade to Philadelphia. James Harden and Deshaun Watson are in such a simlar situation now. All of his teammates are terrible.
This is how things work all the time. If someone gets offered a new job within two weeks of turning in their notice, they aren't required to pass it up. And that's assuming Morey's departure was actually voluntary which we obviously can't take at face value anymore.
Better franchise though? Their last ship was at least 36 years ago. Embiid ain't a leader too and Simmons can't shoot and is injured a lot. Good luck.
Lmao, Morey stayed with a penny-pinching China-loving owner for over a decade, but couldn't take 3 years of Tilman.
Better-positioned franchise. The past is past and doesn't matter too much. Our problem is the future.
If Tilman let Morey leave without a non-compete it's the worst move he's made as owner and it's not close.
Philly is an average FA destination. The big advantage he is getting, he can tank his heart out and amass picks. Trades galore. Envious of that, I admit.
Depends on the wording of the contract they are working under. I have no idea what those circumstances were, but if there weren't protections put in place I would be surprised. Except that, in this case, it wouldn't surprise me at all actually...
