Yeah, it's just not big enough to grill more than like 3-4 items at a time. Maybe like 5-6 pieces of smaller fish, chicken etc. Cool I'll take a look at your thread too. thanks!
I would do one of the following: 1. Weber Kettle - can do your normal grilling and works in a pinch for some slow smoking too (offset method) 2. Traeger/Pellet grill - if you're a little lazy and want to be able to do stuff like control the temp from inside (these can get expensive) 3. Kamado style grill - good for grilling and smoking. There's a range of options here - cheaper (Chargriller Akorn) to expensive (Big Green Egg). Really just depends on what you want to do.
Nothing beats a webber kettle grill for charcoal grilling period. I've used every fire contraption known to man and the way the kettle grill controls air and temp beats everything including expensive green eggs.
Do I need the 22 or the 26"? I usually cook when my family comes over but we're small. 4 people including my wife and I. One day when friends come over, I wanna grill for them too. Would 22 work for like 9 or 10 people?
I thinking two 22 inch grills for two reasons. You can use one when there less people, and two, you can have two temps going when you need to cook two separate types of food. It's also cheaper.
On the 26", if you're moving the charcoal to one side (they have accessories that can control this), you can cook for fewer people. I'd get the big one, so you only have to buy once.
Do you have a link for said accessory? I tried googling Charcoal one side accessory but maybe not the best search terms lol. I found this? But it's for 22 " grills. https://www.google.com/shopping/pro...ved=0ahUKEwjFvqDx_NTsAhUQS60KHSnCCp0QkjAIDigI edit: What about this one? https://www.acehardware.com/departm...NuuBU5CDsF-eiVYWekUaAp4nEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds Is there any disadvantage to just like manually piling the charcoal on one side without the above?
Here you go, for the Weber Kettle https://snsgrills.com/products/slow-n-sear-xl https://www.weber.com/US/en/accesso...3makYr6sIsOtk3yK_7lkg5puMZFQks3IaAkfCEALw_wcB
Good grief, @Pole! I could have purchased a house in West University for that in the late '60's. My problem is my significant other is a vegetarian, as is one of our two grown kids, the one who lives across town in Austin. My son lives in Dallas (he wishes that he didn't, but can't get his love interest to move). So basically, I'm grilling one steak and the rest is some sort of veggie. It's a bit convoluted.
Save yourself $50 and buy the deluxe sns. Not that much difference in size and will fit in a 22” if you decide to get one later. Here’s a comparison of the two. The char baskets come with the 26”. SNS will make you pay for shipping if you change your mind so might want to buy off of amazon.
