Shaquille O'Neal takes shot at Dwight Howard for speech after Lakers win: 'Sit your ass down' Los Angeles Lakers legend Shaquille O’Neal wasn’t a big fan of Dwight Howard’s antics following the Lakers’ championship. Howard went on Instagram Live after the victory, where he delivered an emotional speech about never giving up on your dreams. That didn’t sit well with O’Neal, who trashed Howard for being a “frontrunner” and a “bandwagon jumper.” Those insults were fairly tame compared to some of the other things O’Neal said. He also told Howard to “sit your ass down” and said Howard did “nothing” during the NBA Finals. O’Neal made those comments on “The Big Podcast with Shaq.” O’Neal was careful not to mention Howard by name, but it became obvious when O’Neal mockingly said “follow your dreams,” which is exactly what Howard said in his Instagram Live video. "https://t.co/y7PKUqOqfq">pic.twitter.com/y7PKUqOqfq
— NBA Central (@TheNBACentral) <a href="" Shaq has been critical of Dwight Howard in the past O’Neal has been critical of Howard on numerous occasions the past couple years. O’Neal has questioned Howard’s “attitude,” got mad at others calling Howard “Superman,” and expressed disappointment over Howard never realizing his full potential on “Inside the NBA.” O’Neal also laughed at the Atlanta Hawks for giving Howard a tribute video. Howard hasn’t taken the criticism quietly. He’s told O’Neal to move on more than once. In the past, O’Neal has responded to those taunts by telling Howard to win a ring. Howard did just that with the Lakers, but it doesn’t appear O’Neal is going to let up with his criticism any time soon.
Shaq is right. Dude jumped on a bandwagon.....but I'm still happy he won a championship. He could of easily decided to retire after father-time came knocking but he kept believing in himself and for that reason I respect him.
Shaq tried to ruin James Hardens earning potential and brand in 2016, by naming a player of his calibur shaqtin mvp. I believe that same year harden missed all-nba. This is why i dont blame harden for tuning the tnt guys out going all out in the regular season, dominate so much to the point where they cant deny you. The league wanted to put luka over harden for all nba first team this year despite luka being a horrible defender and worse offense player. Harden dominates the regular season ever since that all-snub. Make it so obvious that they cant deny you. The problem with players like durant and dwight is that they allow players like shaq to get in their heads and affect their games. The media guilted Kevin Durant into coming back into the finals by claiming he was faking his achillies injury and they also claimed durant was enjoying the warriors losing without him. Durant listening to the media probably cost him the rest of his prime
Wasn't that **** gross when it snapped? I felt like he was just walking the plank. Like everyone knew that his leg was gonna pop...and then it did. As for Shaq, this is a crazy bad look. He acts like he needs the public to give him a compensatory 5th ring for being better than Dwight Howard. He belongs next to the two old man muppets grumbling about everything that happens, not on national television...grumbling about everything that happens. The insecurity is so real. Congratulate the guy or do nothing.
Dwight's butt got ripped along with his rep so he's been through so much. Him practicing with the team and filling in when he can are all considerable contributions.
I have zero respect for Dwight after it became clear that his immaturity remained every journeyman team he played with. That being said, good on him for finally sucking it up and realizing he's a role player now.
It’s true tho, Shaq is calling his ass out. He’s only speaking to playing small and being soft as hell. He could have definitely dominated in a big way if not for his childish antics... ain’t nobody saying nothing about Kobe calling him out... Harden saw this too... Shaq got rings. He just wanted to make sure that he ain’t getting off that easy and sell out to win a ring. He’s not that type of guy.
look, i hate dwight, too, but shaq thinks every big man was born lucky enough to be 7'-2" and 350 lbs without putting in almost any work at any point in their life. you can't just "play big" like shaq, especially in this era. shaq was born one of the luckiest humans ever and yet has never been able to be gracious about it, only letting his unbelievably sensitive ego make him put others down (and not just basketball players). you'd think someone who has it all would be less insecure. lol, why? is dwight the first dude to get old and go be a role player to win a ring? shaq literally tried to get a ring by being a role player alongside lebron near the end of his own career.
Not a fan at all of either of these guys, but I'm heavily on Shaq's side in the ongoing O'neal-Coward drama.
I think people are missing it. I think its with how extra/dramatic dwert was being in that video for what he did
What did he do? He was emotional over winning a championship. For someone who just shouts the word RINGZ all the time, you'd think he wouldn't have a problem with this, but Shaq always finds a way to come off as a bully.
If you work for those ringZ like shack has you have reason to be. Dwert was being extra and soft for a coattailer
