YOF is the most meaningless and irritating three letters that I can think of. This thread, and every other one that mentions or debates it should be erased, and the member who generated it should be banned permanently. Furthermore, YOF should be added to the list of 4 letter words that are automatically deleted from posts. At the same time, every other possible combination that looks like YOF should be deleted as well. This would include, for example:

    YOF
    Y0F
    Y@F
    Y:mad:F

The term, luckily having not spread beyond the borders of our bizarre little corner of the universe... mostly due to the fact that it would have no meaning in the rest of the world, should be, in the words of Dubya, hunted down and eliminated. Those members with aspiration of grandeur, hoping innocent people might accidentally, through repetitive exposure, start using this term in the real world, should be held accountable for their actions.

Administrators. I call you to action. Ban. Ban without mercy. Rid us of this evil. Join hands in declaring yourselves members of the Yoff Police. Cleanse this place. Before you say these words to someone you care for.

Solid. Agree with the above. Actually I cannot agree more. I question the use of YOF as a ploy to discredit someone in a debate, and I question the maturity of people who use this argument.

    @Doctor Robert

Actually Clutch probably is the one first made a definition about it. here is the quote in a thread a few months ago.

Jeff probably has the same view but his posts were much longer. Don't know if they changed their opinions or not.

I just think by "definition", Yao Ming, the No.11 dude on this team is also a YOF. If he himself got traded, he won't follow Houston any more I would guess. But do we still love the guy now ? So it's not a big deal, people shouldn't care about it too much. Some people just want the whole China or Asia to be rockets fan, it's not going to happen.

Some people think rooting a player rather than a team is a crime, that's bull****. People shouldn't cry out "wow, it's Yao's crareer high in assists" when Rockets is losing, I agree, I ADVISE people don't do that here it hurts people's feelings. But hey, a lot of people do it at home anyway why would I care, big freaken deal.

Sometimes some posters can be annoying. But you dicuss things with that SINGLE person if you wish. Say "Francis had 13 assists, so screw you". That would be good. Why put a group name upon people and this group contains leterally millions. (and Yao Ming himself)

Anyways YOF is not the centre of attention on this board for quite some time now.

nice try to bring these crap up again, can't put it aside can you.

    amed,

I don't see anything wrong with being a fan of Yao (FOY) and I don't see why would FOY bash the other 11 guys! Not that the fans just want one player to succeed, in this case is Yao. I think they just concern about him that's all. And since Yao is the center piece of this team, it is logical to think that for the team to do well, Yao has to play well. I think all fans like to see the Rox go deep in the playoff regardless who scores the most point. I would really like to see Steve and Yao bring home the championship together.

How many guys here are only fans of Yao and bash the other 11 guys on the team? Name them all for us. I can name a few. But I can also name other few who bash Yao relentlessly in every single post. You all are morons. And the morons on one side doesnt really outnumber the morons on the other side that many.

    OK! I will bite.

I think that you still did not answer my question why do you want to know it?

Is there any benefit to you or anyone for this kind of information?
How do you plan to use the information?

I'm not sure what you mean. If you'll read my posts, you'll see that I didn't have any intention of bringing "crap up", and I posted this poll because I was curious about how many new posters that Yao has brought in and other demographic breakdowns. And for your information I DID put aside the negative connotations, when voting. I am on this board because Yao was drafted so I voted for number 2, even though I wouldn't consider myself a YOF in those other terms. Unfortunately YOF is a supercharged word on this board and I should have used a different term if I wanted people to vote without any prejudices. Oh well, live and learn.

I Love the Rockets. I guess it happened as backlash against the Celtics of the 80's, especially in 86: gotta admit, my favorite Rocket image (which I'm not quite computer savy enough to post) is the link below (look at the looks on those sorry Boston fans faces: PRICELESS!!!). I'm a HUGE Vikings & Raiders fan, but when basketball season comes around the Rockets are the only team I care about. It is my opinion that the Rockets have the most respected tradition in the NBA and one day we may get credit for it: until then I'm content to review the careers of Calvin, Rudy, Elvin, Moses, Lucas, Dream, Horry, Cat & all the others and be PROUD OF OUR TEAM! Go Rockets & thanks for a fun season!

I'll be honest: the only reason I'm posting is because it'll be the easiest way for me to say how few post I have.

That said, I've been a Rockets fan for about 18 years. I became a fan listening to them play on 740am KTRH at night when I was supposed to be going to sleep (I was in elementary school). How sweet it is!!!

Sleepy, Otis, Dream. I remember listening to the game when Hakeem got smacked in the eye socket.

While this thread wasn't really much fun to read, I thougth the poll was interesting.

Not all but most YOF or FOY whatever you want to call them want to blame everyone but Yao for the team's failures. They want to ship everyone out and bring in guys who don't shoot only pass the rock to Yao. All they care about is Yao and that pisses me off casue all I want is for the team to succeed. It has been proven that Van Gundy has put all his playoff hopes on Yao and if he doesn't play well then this team is done, but what I've been trying to say is that JVG needs to put some faith into Steve, Cat, and JJ and not just have them planted behind the Three point line watching Yao.

Everyone here wants the Rockets to succeed. I don't like the few guys who bash every single Rocket player except Yao either. But to counter their points, you have to bash Yao in every single one of your posts also. Last time I checked Yao is a Rocket player too. The bottom line is: those guys are morons, and you are a moron too.
