It's official: Rockets / Lakers. The dream matchup that many of us have been drooling over. This will be the most hyped first-round playoff series in years, possibly ever. If there's ever a first-round series that dares to be epic , this is it.

I have so much more I'm excited about but I'll cut to the quick:

So, who wins? And in how many games?

That depends on which Rockets team shows up. I like their chances if they play the way we know they can, also Malone's injury and Kobe's possible court dates could make this real interesting.

I wouldnt be surprised if we get bounced four straight. This team has zero playoff experience. Bill Walton said it best during todays game. Something to the effect of "The rockets have no idea what the playoffs are about".

I don't know why, but I have a feeling there is going to be a fight in this series. Don't ask me who it will be, but there will be one.

What is that supposed to mean? We actually play the Lakers quite well. I think that they are probably going to steamroll us, but so would any of the other top 5 seeds. Then again....I thought the same thing with Phoenix two years in a row. Things seemed to turn out a bit better than I thought.

If it reaches game 7, Kobe will put it away, count on it.

Lakers in 5, hate to say it but I can't see this team stealing more than two games. Playoff basketball is a whole different animal and if they're complaining about the officiating now just wait till they get a limb chopped off and the officials just shrug. This season is a learning experience unless the whole team comes out and plays out of their head.

I would be happy if Rox win 2 games. After all, Fakers are three-time champion with four future hall of famers. But it would be a great learning process for the Rox.

if all the key players show up the rockets will win but i dont see that happen for more than 1 or 2 games. so, as much as i hate to say this, lakers will win the series, most likely in 5.

Enjoy the enthusiasm, but majority of the fans on the site are on crack.

We met our primary goal this year, making the playoffs. This was accomplished despite losing EG, a young PF on whom we wasted precious resources.

Despite LA's being perhaps the favorite to win it all, I like our matchup with them. We have played them tough all year, but sometimes they were missing Kahl. It will be fun to watch.

Can't see us overcoming their talent and playoff experience. Taking 2 games from them would not be a "wasted" series for us. And we can build on that for next year.

I voted for Lakers in 6. This is because I am realistic. On the other hand, a part of me can definitely see the Rockets taking this series- I think they could really set a good tone with a win in LA in game 1, and I don't think that's out of the realm of possibility.

But even if the Rockets win the series, nobody will give them credit- It will be because of Malone's injury, Kobe's trial, internal conflicts on the Lakers, etc.. Meanwhile, if the Lakers win, Phil Jackson et. al will be praised for winning in spite of all that stuff.

By the way, does anybody know- Is the home-away schedule 2-3-2 or 2-2-2-1?

On another note- I'm gonna be so mad when Denver gets all the hype if they upset the Wolves, knowing we could have done the same thing.

It all depends on how blatent the refs are favoring the lakers. If its bad, we will have no chance.

This has got to be the stupidest POLL idea. "Duhhh... let's ask the Rockets' Fans who will win their playoff games... duhhhhh... a-hiok...[a'la Goofy]"

What's stupider is that some CF.net fans will vote Lakers. What gives? Dumb and Dumberer.

why are people here and anaylsts saying Lakers in six ? I can see Lakers in 4, 5 or 7 - but it just seems that if the rockets are still in the hunt, they will not lost on their home court

I am very excited about this match up, and I feel stupid for thinking that the Rockets can win. Nevertheless, I voted Rockets in seven. How many outstanding games did the Rockets have this season, I don't know the exact number, but I would say less than ten, and two of those were against the Lakers. Ming seems to get really motivated for Shaq, Francis had two of his very best games against them, Mobley has done as good a job against Kobe as anyone in the league, and Malone is hurt. I like our chances. We may get sweep, but I don't think so. :)
