For any of the Tilman isn’t cheap supporters subscribe and check out Iko’s latest piece from the athletic..... Great quotes from @KellyUnchained “Morey’s three years under Fertitta were peculiar, to say the least, at least from a roster-building standpoint. Before every season, ownership publicly declared a willingness to be a tax-paying team, but the actual returns told a different story..... There will be those that point to Chris Paul receiving a new four-year, $160 million deal, Harden’s supermax, and Clint Capela’s five-year, $90 million deal in the summer of 2018 as signs that ownership spent money and that’s valid — they did. But they also cut corners where they didn’t need to, a cardinal sin for teams trying to win it all. The Rockets let Ariza walk and opted to sign swingman James Ennis for two-year, $3.4 million contract with an option in Year 2. Carmelo Anthony was also brought in on a one-year, $2.4 million deal along with Michael Carter-Williams on a minimum deal. It’s the equivalent of getting rid of a 2014 Volkswagen Passat for a 99′ Pontiac, an 04′ Camry with a messed up transmission, and Michael Carter-Williams. That’s not running it back. That’s running away.”
“The Lakers didn’t cut corners. The Raptors didn’t. The Warriors didn’t. The Cavs didn’t. If the Rockets want to be champions, they can’t either.”
He can afford the gas, he just can't afford to maintain it. It ran great the first year and it wasn't too bad the 2nd and 3rd year, but heading into it's 4th year, well if you haven't maintained the car, issues are likely to start. Cosmetically, he's done what he can't to make it look nice, but as with any car you apply cheap paint, the results are always that it will fade or flake away.
it was great the 1st year because he had 0 to do with the team. all the moves made in the summer were well before he sat down officially as owner. getting cp3, pj, lmm. all morey. The 2nd year was terrible. the summer of melo, mcw, ennis. just ridiculous the team he broke up and got scrubs as replacements that people thought oh they'll be better than ariza. gtfoh. year 3. summer of westbrick. just when it couldn't get any worse. 4th year. can't wait. the trek towards missing the playoffs or barely even getting in likely. rivers probably dips. jeff green also. they sign some random scrubs that don't fit again
Ok so y’all really wanted him to go into the LT right? Let’s say he did. Y’all really think we would of won the championship by running it back? Lol please. The year before was our only chance and cp3 got hurt as usual. Then next year KD goes down and we choke again. Then where would we be left if Tilman did go into the LT only to come up short again?
easily would have been right where they were in 2017 bringing back ariza and a better bench than mcw/ennis. Shumpert of all people turned out to be the best bench player that year but nah. tilman broke it up and tried to use scrubs as your support for a championship core exactly what the thread alludes to. you cut corners, you get the results. and i've said it before, I'm glad this is all blowing up in his face and it will continue to. He'll keep looking like the moron he is because he loves to talk out of his own ass. people are ditching this team while they can and more players will do the same
No gas, but I guarantee by the time he's done we're going to have an old Honda Civic with a giant spoiler and an ugly-ass paint job.
This fundamentally misses the point that Tilman is not interested in winning a championship. It's not his goal. His actions have proven that.
Where is all this hate at when Harden ask for Lucas to be head coach and when he chokes every time come playoffs?
harden never asked for lucas to be head coach. quit trying to spread fake news and doing your best tekashi/brabra impression
When Tilman upgrades the Toyota center and team plane and practice facilities and everything else he has planned. And when Harden is gone and we have a superstar who actually cares about winning will Tilman reap his benefits. But with harden we are on the mediocrity treadmill.
lucas is a players coach here. everyone that follows the rockets knows the players like him. not one player has ever said they didn't. a huge part of his job is to have that type of involvement here because well he's the player development person here doesn't mean they want him to be the actual coach.
Umm, maybe. We would have 4 additional picks to upgrade. Keep Ariza, using WB picks for Covington, keep Capela Paul Harden Ariza Covington Capela Way better than the shithouse roster we have now.
and when the rockets should have signed jeff green two years ago at min but instead opted for mcw/ennis. add him to that lineup. so that lineup + rivers, eg, uncle jeff, pj, house as your supporting cast. absolutely disgusting what was broken up
