Second-best record in the league over those 13 years, trailing only the Spurs. Morey wasn't perfect, but he put his team in a position to contend nearly every year. That's more than you can say for almost every other GM out there.

And this is all with almost never being allowed into the luxury tax or tanking. People act like we give this guy praise for no reason, its astounding.

Likely, but we'll see, won't we?

If we hear in the next 12 months about groundbreaking on the new Golden Nugget Macao, and/or development of another 50 or so Rainforest Cafes in China, etc...that will be what people like to call "a clue."

Right? And in those 13 years, only 6 GMs won titles. Of the others, Morey probably came closer.

But, but... midrange shots! And immobile, lumbering 7-footers who go for 6 pts and 4 rebounds a game after winning the opening tip. :D

Looooooool. "Houston lost because they had no center to contain AD." AD proceeds to still kick the butt of every team with a big while PJ Tucker held him to his lowest PPG.

    AD owned Capela.

    So did Boogie.

    And Draymond and Kevin Looney.

when you say nearly every year, do you mean 2 years out of 13? 08-09, 17-18. You could argue 14-15 too but I don't think that team was close to beating the Warriors.

I think Morey is consistently good, but never spectacular at putting together a championship team, or a team that can contend for multiple years in a row. When we got Howard, that was suppose to be a contender with Harden, but we ended with 2 first round exits and a WCF. The key role players and coaching was never there. Same as the Paul and Harden, we got 1 year of contention out of that.

Meanwhile there were so many bone headed moves with drafting and lack of development. We also gave away so many picks to get rid of players. Is that all Morey's fault, hard to say, but I think someone like Masai for example would have put us over the top in some of these years.

That'd be thrilling given that TF is most probably a Republican and a supporter of Trump who is in the middle of a trade war with said CCP.

Never allowed to tank and never allowed into the luxury tax.

MDA was a great coach. I dont care what anyone says about that. Dwight Howard starting sucking and was never really the same after Orlando. But Chris Paul, we were definitely still contenders that second year as well. Daryl was not allowed to spend(agin) to make that team better. Look at how close those Warriors/Rockets games were. All this being said, its not like Houston is some grad A FA destination either.

Masai got lucky Kawhi blew up the Spurs. If that never happens youd be talking about Masai as putting a chocking roster together. Their roster got SWEPT by a 4th seeded cavs team. Constanly losing to Lebron every year and sometimes just flat out losing to teams they had no business losing to. Masai has never gotten a player as good as James Harden. He's a great GM who's done a lot of good work, but lets not act like he's not been in the weaker conference with other advantages as well.

In hindsight this post is crazy and actually had a lot of insight. If we don’t play well this year I suppose a lot more **** can happen

Would have been fine if Tuckwagon could produce close to what Jeff produced on the other end as well. ;)

One end doesn't really do the trick as Houston struggled with 1 way players in the past, not saying PJ is one.
