I still don't understand how our pitching staff performed as well as they did. I'm still trying to wrap my head around it.
Dude I get it, but please don't even post that. Nobody on here wants to see that trash. If you haven't become immune to the "scandal" trolls, that's on you.
Bc the Rays lineup just isn't very good outside of Arozarena, and he went nuclear. That team relys so heavily on defense and their pitching/bullpen to be perfect I would be very surprised to see them beat either team from the NL.
Let's be real here, the Rays are the smaller market underdog team, their payroll is like bottom in the league IIRC. ESPN was HEAVILY rooting for us here for the narratives, it's probably the first time ESPN was actively rooting for the Astros.
He was really good in Detroit too. And we basically cut him, which was unnecessary. A lot of really good hitters had weird years. Altuve was a mess in the regular season. I think the postseason showed it's pretty clear he can still hit.
I just can't understand why we just didn't walk this guy. I know hindsight and everything...but I've been saying for days now to walk this guy. He's hitting EVERYTHING over the plate. He's most of their offense.
So looking ahead... 1) Do WHATEVER it takes to bring back Springer. Make it happen. 2) Give Brantley the QO and I really hope he takes it. 3) Trade Grienke. With Valdez, Urquidy, Javier and McCullers, we don’t need a $35 million #4 or 5 pitcher. Someone will take him, and we might even be able to get a prospect out of the deal. 4) use the money you save from Grienke to get a 2nd catcher, a starter and some bullpen help.
That's way more disrespect at the Rays than it is shIttalk to the Stros. Just wrong. Rays don't deserve that at all.
Agreed but I was counting Alvarez as our best hitter - in my mind he’s the best in the lineup and makes a huge difference. The Rays don’t beat us if we swap Reddick and Yordan out...
Why did everything of y’all so pissed. I get that we lost the series but c’mon, who would have thought we could go this far after second game of the season when we found out JV could be out with TJ. Then Osuna. Then Alvarez after 2 games. The batting lineup take turn on IL. Springer, Altuve, and Breg for most part hitting under .225 If anything, we should be positive about the future of this pitching staffs. Give me a sense of hope that we can just reload instead of rebuilt. Our batting lineup will still be one of the best next 2-3 years even without springer and Brantley. Yes it does sound difficult but players (whether FA or young player in the system) will step. Who would have thought Tucker going into the season would be our offensive MVP this year. And pitching. My gosh they were fantastic. Framber, Urguidy, Javier, Paredes, Taylor, Scrubb, and I love me some Brook Raley. Dude was a great for us in the playoff. Pressley came alive in ALCS. I’m excited for the next 2-3 years. If we can sign an extension with Correa this off-season, I would be ecstatic. Signing either Springer or Brantley would be awesome too. congrats to Astros players and organization for job well done this season. Let get Jim Crane to open the wallet and take care of our current players.
