Morey was the GM to run basketball operation, Tilman is the owner. When did Tilman act as GM?

People keep blaming Tilman for all the mistakes from this basketball club, and forget Rockets is only part of Tilman's business. I seriously doubt Tilman would spend this much time on this.

Ugh, he thinks Morey wanted Westbrook.

How do people still not get this?

You clearly don't know how Tilman operates as owner. do some research before posting

You have no idea what happened that got Westbrook here... You want to throw it all on ownership which is fine. Screw Tilman i dont give a damn.

But in reality i still don't think it was that bad of a deal hell if we didnt give up draft picks id still think its a great deal... You can hate Russ and say hes the worst or whatever. but everyone was saying CP3s contract was the worst in the NBA when we traded him away. Hell the only reason he is still on the Thunder is because OKC couldnt get rid of him for a fax machine.

I have a very good idea because I've actually followed it form day 1. You on the other hand. it's utterly hilarious how there's still people who don't get it. Even Tilman can literally say he made the decision when morey and co told him not to. how stupid can one be. apparently pretty dumb just like tilman because he just runs his mouth

and again only the idiots were saying it. and just like an idiot you stay and idiot and look at where you're at now.

It’s amazing that the one guy that made the request to play with his friend is going unscathed once again. I’ve never seen a player get a free pass like harden on here

for something that was put out in october of 2019

Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta tells final hours of Paul, Westbrook deal

In a Wednesday interview with Fox Sports 1’s Colin Cowherd, Houston Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta shed new light on the final hours before the Chris Paul for Russell Westbrook trade was agreed to with the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday, July 11.

When Cowherd asked where the Rockets’ owner was when he decided to make the move for Westbrook, Fertitta responded:

I was in Europe, and so I was six or seven hours ahead of them. So I’m talking at 2, 3, 4 in the morning. And we just decided to do it. They ran different statistics by me.

My basketball ops [operations] got maybe a little weak at the end, and I just said, ‘We’re doing this. We are going to make the change. We’re going to go after it and roll the dice. We’re going to find that 5 percent.’

    Westbrook trade was a Tilman move with Harden's blessing/encouragement. I don't have a quote/article but it's been known

Tilman can literally spit in these guys mouths and they’d pretend it’s lemonade. No point in trying to talk sense into fools dumb enough to carry water for that cheapskate.

So the basketball ops brought him the deal and he approved. Didnt the basketball ops tell him this is catastrophic dont do it? Did Morey put a foot down and say this isnt the move? When you look at quotes from morey he seems to have been okay with it and his big hiccup was shockingly sending out draft picks not the getting westbrook or losing CP3.

And Morey can get us shipped out before the second round is over 11 out of 14 years and be the greatest basketball mind since Dr. Naismith himself

The stage was set for D'Antoni's departure before the season started, and I can't be too upset about it because I can't really imagine us getting better with him. He was also brutally outcoached in the bubble. That said, winning 52 to 58 games per year and getting bumped in the 2nd or 3rd round isn't a terrible existence. Capela being traded away with his endorsement could have been a "what the hell because I'm gone anyway" move. Don't know about Westbrook, but that probably was Harden as much as Fertitta. Everyone was pretty depressed about Paul's future before he left... he looked spent.

It's only been a few hours since Morey left, so we really don't know much right now. I'm guessing you're at least partially right because if Morey thought we were in a position to win a championship next year, he would probably stay. Someone mentioned that a new GM didn't promise to keep Westbrook, so...

If you recall. Morey publicly told CP3 he was safe once rumors swirled. Tillman & Harden wanted Westbrook so org hit the override button

He has restaurants, Casinos, Hotels, Rockets, I have no idea how he run his business, but it is hard to image he'd spend much time on trades with other NBA clubs. Naturally thinking is that Morey had idea on one trade, and couldn't decide, he'd provide suggestion and cons and pros of the trade to Tilman, and let Tilman to make the final decision.

There is no proof that Tilman made Westbrook trade or any NBA trade. Harden wanted CP3 out, Rockets wanted to get some value back, what other options would they have other than Westbrook back then?
