Honestly I think you have to let Garcia start and have a bullpen day. If you start Valdez (and let's say for argument sake that we keep winning), then you have to start him on short rest, along with McCullers on short rest for game 6, and same for Urquidy in game 7. That's a lot of pitchers going on short rest which means the bullpen will get worn out even more than a full bullpen day in game 5.

I think you just roll the dice, let Garcia start and just hope for another Urquidy type situation. If we can some how steal this game...then the series gets interesting with Valdez fresh for game 6 and Lance for game 7. Again...all this is unlikely, and it's going to be insanely tough...but you never know.

I'm going with the best chance to win the series .... two options

    1) Garcia for 4-5 with bullpen vs Rays Pen, then Framber game 6 on full rest, with Lance game 7 on full rest with Urquidy for relief

    OR

    2) Framber on 3 days rest, then Mccullers on 3 days rest, then Urquidy on 3 days rest with a tired bullpen having to pitch big innings in all 3 games

The point is to win the series, and I truly believe option 1 gives us that best chance, while Option 2 gives us a slightly better chance to make it to game 6, but much less chance to win the series IMO
No right answer but that's the way I am looking at it

Agreed. 3 straight starters on 3 days' rest is almost certain to have one blow up in there, and that would end the season. At this point, after using Javier yesterday, you basically have to roll the dice today and just pray it works out. Odds are not good, but you throw all your best bullpen arms out there and see what happens. If you get through today, you can do:
    Game #6: Framber+Javier
    Game #7: McCullers+Urquidy

I’m fine with this move. We’ve managed to keep secret weapon Josh James completely fresh and ready for multiple innings if necessary.

Does this pitching decision come with a "Tractor Offer" from the owner? If not, I'm not sure I can sign off on it.....

Local talking heads; Tampa has never seeing Garcia pitch. It could be an advantage.

I've never seen Garcia pitch and I'm a faithful fan who misses at most 1 game a year.

Damn! I just found out that frisbee throwing Thompson for the Rays was a Rule 5 draft from our system. Sigh

I'd put Reddick ahead of Yuli in the order.

1 game in a normal year equates to 2.7 this year. Garcia made 5 appearances (1 start) this season, I think the math almost works!! :D

Yeah, you hope Garcia can put it a solid 5, but either way you mostly hope the bats go off.

I get the decision. Dusty with the "I've gotta feelin'" moves baby!

Garcia just getting thrown into the fire here. I like the move, I think it's the only thing you really can do at this point. The bats have to help the guy out.

The freaking Morey thing has this site loading slow, or maybe it's just me. Probably is just me.

Psh, see Garcia this game is easy. Just 26 more.

Rays doing their best Astros impression by hitting the ball hard and right at us.

Ata boy Garcia! Come on bats...get off to a hot start here.
