Just give this man for this job. Harden team is not going to win a title any time soon. At least JVG could make him to go night clubs less frequently.
To be clear I do not believe Silas will be with the Rockets. He is under contract as an associate head coach and would have to request and received permission to join the Rockets... very unlikely.
If he requests permission to interview for HC jobs, I find it hard to believe Rick Carlisle and Mark Cuban would say no.
For a head coaching job I can see Dallas allowing it, but for a lateral move? I would be surprised Cuban and Carlisle would let their associate head coach go to the Rockets for the same position... I could be wrong though and would support a Van Gundy/Silas hire.
Y’all think if we hire JVG wnd Kenny Atkinson and not hired by OKC. We can bring in Kenny as lead assistant head coach?
Atkinson would likely get along really well with Van Gundy. The issue with him is he is a guy that really wants to run his own team. I also start to wonder at what point is there too much NY in the building. Van Gundy and Atkinson are classic, hard nosed NY basketball coaches... you can add Thibs and Clifford to that list... it may be too much for this veteran team.
This isn't Steve Francis We weren't going anywhere with Steve If Harden goes to the superbowl with Jay Z and Beyonce JVG can't punish him, different era
Associate head coach > assistant coach, isn't it? lol. Silas - Head Coach JVG - Associate Head Coach of Defense. (I kid, I kid...)
JVG is IDEAL coach. Need to get away from small lineup crazyness and start building a taller team. Play inside-out. Get good 3-point shooters.
Unless we find a Yao or Hakeem under a sofa, that approach with our personnel wouldn't be ideal. This team's strength is its backcourt.
The warriors were small, but they had size and utilized it unlike us. I agree we are to short up front. They had Durant IGO They center we wanted ... Plus more consistent shooting
https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nb...-van-gundy-about-coaching-vacancy/ar-BB1a2stt Former Rockets coach Jeff Van Gundy went through his first session of interviews with Rockets officials Wednesday with more talks planned with Van Gundy and other candidates that have met with team officials, a person with knowledge of the process said. The plan to continue talks with Van Gundy was first reported by ESPN. The Rockets had gone into the process with the intention of having follow-up interviews with some candidates, but there has not yet been an indication that there is a firm list of finalists. Rockets officials have met with former Nets coach Kenny Atkinson, Denver assistant Wes Unseld Jr., Dallas assistant Stephen Silas, Minnesota assistant David Vanterpool and Rockets director of player personnel John Lucas.
Um, er...... I can appreciate being thorough. I don't know who is going to be the choice, obviously (or I'd blab), but I hope they don't lose out on a coach because they want to make sure their other candidates undergo colonoscopies first. Unless they're dragging their feet, waiting for Lue, and if they don't get him, well, we'll take "one of these guys". (Parenthetically, why am I responding to J.R. the NBA bot?)
