Why not "I haven't watched it yet but I will say that during the pandemic I have been listening pretty regularly to his Monday Morning Podcast and have become a fan of his, so I will probably not be offended by it."
i believe if you are male you like bill burr more. the part about white women standing by was good.. he definitely says some sexist stuff that is funny from one angle and he is joking ( hes a comic) but it can fall short. i like it when he goes down the list talking trash. he is pretty good about saying stuff about xyz race and keeping it right on edge. as a white guy he cant say a lot of things chappelle says..its an interesting double standard. bill burr podcast is a bit boring but his stand up is pretty good. his angry rants are quite nice .. he cant probably be as sexist and over the top racist as he wants to be ..and I imagine parts of that would be funny
He’s pretty clever at using the language of anti-racism to mask his sexism. His rants used to just be about women, but he recognized that won’t work with present audiences so now he focuses on “white women”.
I love Bill Burr but that was not his best effort. I did find the white woman thing kind of funny. Not offensive, not hilarious.
I saw it, and I think people expect that other people won't get the interpretation of it, but I think actually most did. It's not your typical SNL opening by any stretch, but if you saw it on a comedy central late night stand up special, people wouldn't think twice, and see it for what it is. I think he's pretty good in this era, but I can see how he probably has a tendency to fall flat. Most of the great stand up comedians in the past never seemed like they were trying so hard. With Burr it's sort of understood that he's trying pretty hard.
people who don't have a sense of humor are usually offended by jokes but the D&D's comedy is Carl Herrera's dumb headliners so I think the majority of the D&D don't know what comedy is it's like taliban here doing stand up @Os Trigonum
I wasn't partcicularly offended by anything when I watched it live but I could see how others are offended in the climate we live in today. The set itself wasn't that funny. At one point he got a pitty applause and thanked the audience. Chris Rock's standup the previous week was much funnier.
I though it was OK. I chuckled a few moments but I thought it get really strained with finding out about Gay Pride month as some revalation.
Neither. And I love Bill Burr. But like most great comedians his comedy just doesn't work in the mickey mouse SNL format.
Bill Burr was holding back. I think that routine would be bland in the post-Chappele Show 2000s, and had an added flavor of funny/offensiveness by the fact that he's saying it right now.
