This has been Trump his whole life. His whole "Art of the Deal" schtick is to walk away when he thinks he's not getting what he wants (or when he thinks he can get more). He always comes back to the table, though, and acts as if he's doing the other side a favor.

If I were Pelosi, I'd make some kind of concession in return for Trump going on Twitter and saying disparaging things about "do-nothing" Mitch McConnell and the Republican Senate. That would firmly establish the (accurate) narrative that McConnell is the reason for no progress on a 2nd stimulus. I guarantee Mitch will either come to the table in somewhat-better faith (I won't say good), or the other Senate Republicans will remove him as Majority Leader if he refuses.
Mitch probably realizes that Trump’s usefulness is done. Knows that the only why Republicans survive is for Biden to become president and go back to the game plan they had before with Obama.
