As long as it's not Ty Lue or John Lucas out of the names listed so far, I will be excited enough. Ty Lue seems like just a big name and Lucas seems like a cop out. https://theathletic.com/1507563/202...-timberwolves-defense-process-andrew-wiggins/ Silas has always been in my preferred hires with Kenny A, Chris Finch and David Joerger but Vanterpool is also pretty interesting. Messina stamp of approval intrigues me. Rosas stamp of approval intrigues me.
its a tossup for me. Atkinson is mostly a player development/culture guy but he managed to take the nets into the top 10 defensively this season. I think pairing him with an offensive assistant like finch would make a lot of sense. if we go with Silas, who seems to be known for his offense, we'd have to pair him with a defensive AHC and it seems that's a bit harder to find.
Silas worked under and learned from Paul Silas Don Nelson Steve Kerr Rick Carlisle Steve Clifford Worked with stars version early on Lebron Curry Luka
If your chief concern is keeping Harden/Westbrook happy with their head coach, then you want Vanterpool or Silas over Atkinson.... the potential is there for Harden/Westbrook to be very loyal to Atkinson, but it will be a massive cultural change for both. They would be expected to do what coach wants with little exception... but Atkinson would fight for them. Silas and Vanterpool are charismatic and excel at building relationships with players and are more likely to have separate rules for the stars.
As slow are we are in interviewing people, feels like they are waiting on the bubble to end to interview JVG.
