people still upset at this small ball haha. that's the cost of picking up a scrub like westbrick and the only way to give him a chance to be relevant. Problem is everyone else suffers especially when he stills suck in the lineup that was adjusted for him lol 3 more years of this trash and brick fest every game. smh
I soooo agree with this take so much to the point you took my thoughts and worded it for me . Wow you sounded like me arguing with a coworker that thinks he knows about basketball.
Skilled size is the key word. If Hakeem walks through that door, he is obviously playing over gawdamn PJ Tucker. The fact that we have 80 million locked into two guards makes it incredibly difficult though to add skilled size.
If you account for wingspan and standing reach and not the top of a guy’s useless head, it IS slightly smaller. See Donatas vs Tucker. For all intensive purposes, 6-5 PJ is taller... But yeah, obviously a 6-9 PJ would be nice. Hell, a 8-4 PJ would be nice. Let us know when you find that guy and we can afford him. Until then, I’d still rather play PJ at C than a Dwight Howard type.
It was so obvious it wasn't going to work out. I think the warriors play with a true center as well? Kevon Looney? They have better shooters than the Rockets as well. I'm a Rockets fan, but man Dantoni tried that with the Suns too. He had Amare though. The Heats have a short center as well, but he play as a traditional center and could block shots. *Genuine criticism of team from actual Rockets player* Clutchfans: Y'all really can't stand hearing things you don't wanna hear
You’re not a smart person with that comment. Those other teams didn’t have two MVPs on the floor. Add a Covington to Capela and it is us in the Finals (no one is watching).
Morey reacted late when Wood was released by the Pelicans. He was playing well for them. The Pistons acquired him, and Morey came up empty handed at the 5. No one is disputing that Covington was a much better fit than the struggling Capela even before he got injured.
Even the greatest small ball team ever, the warriors, only did it in spurts. That’s how it works... as a strategic change of pace... not your entire system no matter what team you play, or what adjustments other teams make.
Never liked this dude. 41 points in a meaningless game. Got a big mouth for some 2nd stringer. Whose HC was Disneyworld? Not his. His dad got canned.
Small ball was a fine idea in theory. With the right pairing of players, I think it could work. Anthony Davis would dominate regardless how tall your team is so that doesn't really matter. The issue is the entire reason you implemented small ball was to accommodate a historically inefficient basketball player who consistently fails in the playoffs. Small ball with Chris Paul + assets used to get Westbrook = much more successful. It cannot be overstated how terrible the Westbrook trade was
This statement has to ****ing stop. The Rockets didn’t have two MVPs on the floor. They had one perennial MVP candidate. And then they had one fluke MVP who has mostly been garbage for 4 years running.
it wasn't in spurts. That was their primary lineup and any lineup without a traditional 5 significantly exceeded one with an actual traditional center
It was actually more susceptible to winning. Dont re-write history just because you prefer a different aesthetic.
