Virtually no chance Houston re-signs Reddick, but this is a big yikes. Very well could have an entirely different outfield next year

Or it could just mean Josh knows he's gone, which should be a big yikes to nobody.

It is the last time all three of them will be together... but there is a good chance 1-2 of them will be back. It won’t be an entirely new outfield because.... Tucker.

    Brantley-CF-Tucker

I would love that CF to be Springer, but if not they need someone who can cover ground.

That someone could be Straw but man his bat is pretty much non-existence. I’m really hoping we can re-sign either Brantley or Springer.

No, hell no, not Straw. He's a good bench guy.

This, Straw just isn’t good enough with the stick. If the Astros lose Springers bat, they need to replace it with a good bat somewhere.

    Or a glove in CF.

You can't expect the IF to all struggle like they did this year. You get Yordan back. Get a backup C who is not a total zero at the plate to share time with Maldonado...then you've got a spot for a 9-hitting CF

Just depends on how things play out. I'm more concerned with beating the A's at the moment.

Right? How old is Kenny Lofton?

They don't make 'em like they used to.

Speaking of covering ground, can Hunter Pence unretire so soon?

What do you want him to do, run sideways into a sliding glass door?

if in the worst case scenario we lose springer and dont replace him in FA , its worth a shot to try tucker in center and have yordan play right . Granted , this is only possible if Yordan's knee issues are truly behind him. Tucker probably is below average at CF , but ive seen decent instincts ... at the very least he wont be putrid.

ideally tho we keep springer and brantley and have yordan as OF/1B defensive depth. I'm not sure what our infield looks like , but unless we move off guys i think we have the ability to field the same bunch. Correa / bregs arent FA yet to my knowledge.

If Alvarez-Tucker-Brantley would work, it would solve a lot of problems. The offense would be there though.

What makes anyone think that Yordan will ever play the OF?

    Hope? Miracle?

edit: Not saying Tucker in CF is good either. Maybe bring in the fences? But it would retain the offense. That was what I liked about it.

Your right about Alvarez though. Might take a minor miracle for him to DH.

    Yordan's your DH. Accept it.

Call me crazy, but Jake wouldn’t be a terrible add. He can be had for cheap and hopefully with Alvarez’ return, that could help supplement the offense. Maybe do a split in CF with Jake vs lefties and another player vs righties? We’ll have to see how the market plays out. I wouldn’t call Jake’s return likely, but it’s interesting if the price is right.
