and what happened that caused you to miss it? For many of you this will be OJ, but let's pretend that is number 1 on nearly everyone's list that lives outside of Houston and move on to some other crummy reasons.

    Game 7 against the Knicks.

I was very, very sick. I was asleep in bed the whole day, night and the next day. I did end up seeing it though, my mom recorded it for me and I watched it a couple days later. So I guess I didn't really miss it, just missed it when it happened. Does that count???

"This was a tough battle. It was truly a championship game," said Olajuwon after Game 7, the 20th consecutive seventh game of a playoff series won by the home team. "If you write a book, you can't write it any better. It has been a great season for us, and I'm just so happy to bring a championship to this city, Houston. It means a lot."

I missed the 91-92 season. Hakeem was going through the goggles....

Don't think I missed much....except Magic getting AIDS.

This broke my heart: the summer after my freshman year at UT, I went off to San Diego for Marine Corps bootcamp. Of course I was both excited and nervous about bootcamp. I'd been running and working out like crazy to get in shape. I'm proud to have served in the Corps. I have no regrets.

    Except . . .

The day I left for bootcamp was Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals in our epic, '94-95 title run. That's right--I missed all of it. After years of being a loyal Rockets fan, after watching nearly ever game for years, I missed seeing Hakeem dominate David Robinson. I missed Hakeem dominate Shaq. I missed Nick Anderson's free throws, Kenny's three-pointer, the celebration after the sweep. I missed the greatest chapter in Houston Rockets history.

While Hakeem was schooling the Admiral, I was doing pushups and crawling in the mud and learning how to lob grenades, not even knowing if the Rockets were still in the playoffs. Weeks after the NBA Finals, my mom sent me a care package with clippings from the Houston Chronicle. Opening that envelope was one of the great moments of my life: seeing that picture of Drexler and Hakeem high-fiving, learning all at once that the Rockets had not only improbably beat the Spurs they also swept the Magic.

I missed the live broadcast of game 5 of the 1986 Western Conference Finals because I was 8 years old and the second half was past my bed time for a school night. I remember the Rockets were getting beat by double digits so I wasn't too upset missing the second half. My parents recorded the game and in the morning, to my utmost delight, I got to watch the recording of Ralph Sampson's turn around catch and shoot last second game winner that beat the Lakers and sent Houston to the Finals.

On a side note, game one of the 1986 NBA Finals coincided with the last day of school, but not a minute was missed as my school canceled afternoon classes and rolled a TV into the lunch room so that we could watch the Celtics beat the Rockets in game one.

I missed ,I believe it was game 6 of the 1997 finals when stockton hit the winning three to send utah to the finals. I was at my sisters graduation. We went to Taco Cabana afterwards and someone parked their car outside and put the radio up loud. I heard the very last play.:( The guy on the radio said "Its all over."
I thought the rocks had won until he continued by saying,"Utah is going to Chicago!"

Game 6 against the Phoenix suns when Clyde was out. We were down 3-2 and I was doing the E3 trade show in LA, and missed the game.

The Rocks won and then they won game 7....Chucky Brown was the star of the game, aparently.

Dang, I should have recorded it.

Game 7 against the knicks. That was the most important game, with that one game you either win it all or nothing, and you turn into just another team but with out a good pick.

I missed the game where Barkley tore his tricep in the first round of the playoffs against the j*zz.

That was going to be our 3rd ring, too.

Sampson hitting the miracle shot to eliminate the Lakers and put Houston in the finals against Boston.

I missed it because... who the hell remembers? It was 19-freaking-86.

On a lighter note, I happened to be in Orlando on business as Kenny Smith combined with Nick Anderson to break the collective hearts of an entire city in Game 1 of the 1995 NBA Finals. Beautiful.

I missed the final playoff game against the Lakers in 1999. So, really i haven't missed much.

I'll never forget that Eddie Johnson game winner. That ranks up there in my top 5 favorite rocket moments.

I missed most of Game 2 1997 West Finals at Utah. We were down 15 points in the 4th when I got back home, and I found myself saying "maybe the Jazz are for real."

I was at a high school sports banquet.

Same here. I was at work. Only game I've really missed since 1990 or so...

I'd love to get a tape of that game.

The Rocket's mix song to Madonna's "I'll Remember" has the audio from Gene Peterson, that'll bring chills.

Here's the audio from CC.net with Eddies shot. You'll need Real player. :D
