Lakers play more of a half-court game like us.
The Kings fast break more and play more uptempo than us.

We seem to match up better against a half-court team.

Regarding the Kings choking, I don't think they choked (Lakers got a lucky bounce and Horry hit a 3 and last year they didn't have webber at the end) plus they haven't choked in the first round.

I'm with you ZRB. The rockets have little chance to make it out of the first round. So why not have the best matchup of any of the playoff games.

Yao vs. Shaq potentially for 7 games. It doesn't get any better than that.

There is nothing in the NBA better than a 7-game Rockets vs Lakers match up. Imagine Yao-Shaq VII, VIII, IX, X, XI, XII, XIII? We are going to run out of Roman numbers soon!

Its going to be tough either way I'm just glad the Rox made into the playoffs and will take whoever.

On paper the Rox seem to have a better chance against the Lakers. We match up better and play similar styles of games plus there is the X factor of the Lakers age. Is Malone healthy enough to last a 7 game series? If Malone or any of the other Laker stars get hurt we could beat them. OTOH even though we got swept by the Kings we still played them tough and our series could've easily been 2-2 against them. On top of that they are slumping.

We have problems and opportunities either way.

I agree with ZRB, I am going to be cheering for the Lakers, starting about right now. The Rockets are not going to the second round, and the best games of the season have been against the Lakers. We may or may not be blown out, could be interesting, especially if Ming and Francis catch fire. Go Lakers!

Either way, Rox will be screwed by referees.

    Prediction:

    FT/game in the playoff:

    Rox 15
    Kings/Lakers 35

Well, it's not looking good at the moment. We have to hope that the Lakers make a huge comeback.

Uhhhh, I must root for Karla Malone... the pain....is......unbearable....

31-15 at the end of the first quarter. If the Kings can do that to the Lakers... oh man, it's going to be a quick series.

Rockets have a better chance of beating the Kings than the Lakers.

In a playoff atmosphere, there is absolutely no way to stop the Lakers.

We haven't played their full squad.

The Kings, on the other hand, were better without Webber. Now they have Webber, we nay have a chance.

I think Yao Ming can DOMINATE the Kings in a playoff series. That's what we need to focus on.

    Wolves
    Kings
    Spurs
    Lakers

    That's my preference.

Shaq is allowed at least 10 offensive fouls (outright charges) per game. Yao is not allowed that and, further, gets called just for standing still with his arms straight up.

Yao would be a 30/20 guy if he played for the Lakers and got the calls the refs give to L.A. due to their glitzy fans and fawning media.

Well, it looks like it's going to be the Queens.

It's really no big deal, though. We will kick their asses coming playoff time...in my dreams.

The Lakers are obviously "tanking" the game to avoid the Rockets. ;) Now we need to drop to the 8th place so we can get the Wolves. Position is everything. :D

8th seed doesn't sound so bad right now. The Kings will demolish us.

Not looking good. Kings own us this year. Their offense is too fast paced for us to keep up. Rockets should tank like the lakers and drop to 8th.

I agreed man...Kings' offense is just too tiresome for Yao and I think if the Rockets are smart and have a chance to drop....they should drop to #8 to get Wolves for a better chance of winning. Hey if you have a chance to choose which team you can play in the Playoffs ...why not do it???

I haven't seen coaches or teams purposely doing that in order to get what they want...they always emphasize the important of winning games no matter what situation they're in which i think it's a dumb strategy. I mean if you have a chance to play a certain and knowing you're better off matching up with them...why not do it purposely.

maybe its just me, but havent we really been competitive with the kings in 3 of the 4 games we played? If i recall properly we were either leading or within 6 points going into the 4th and then fell apart really after the 6 min mark. If JVG can keep this team focus (a big IF) then we may have a shot, but i dont see us making it out of the first round this year regardless who we face,

remember we need to get our feet wet before we start swimming
