    He is a great man who fought a lot of demons throughout his life and has helped a lot ex athletes do the same. He was pretty good as a coach with the Spurs but that was over two decades ago

    Sure the Rockets players would love him, which is exactly why he is the wrong coach for Houston. Harden and Westbrook need a coach who’s not going to back down from them.

    Totally agree. The last thing we need is someone internal that won't stand up to our stars. We also don't want anyone that has any involvement in the D'antoni system.

    I like John Lucas quite a bit and would definitely have him on my interview list, but as an early interview before the playoffs are done and my real targets can be interviewed.

    I’m good with that choice. Rockets get my full endorsement on that. Lucas has earned it IMO.

    So basically what this is saying is that Dantoni is so hard headed he can't even listen to his staff to put in good ideas or is it saying Lucas was to cowardly to speak up? There was a lot to be desired from our coaching staff. If this guy is so great why didn't he leave more of an impact earlier?

    If not a front runner candidate, a side benefit of these 1st round interviews is Rockets get to hear certain ideas, constructive criticism, and possible future directions. Free mini think tank session. Not sure what chain of command, hopefully past assistants weren't afraid to speak up.

    Lucas in turn also get some Head Coaching interview practice.

    They can also interview Keith Jones if Adam Silver wanted them to.

    Not saying he's the best candidate, but it's pretty insulting to characterize it as a "politically correct minority interview". He has decades of coaching experience at the NBA level.

    Im sorry but no....we need a nick nurse hire. We need a progressive coach for the modern NBA. We need a guy who will bring Dantoni's strengths but will still have the flexibility to make adjustments.
