The NBA has a minimum team salary that is still extremely high. Even a budget roster won't save you a ton of money in the grand scheme, maybe none if you are dumping your marketable asset.

There's very little upside to trading Harden, even if his value is high. You virtually never see teams getting back high picks for superstars for a reason, it's near impossible to make it work. You usually just get back whatever the receiving (and likely good) team has to offer. So in turn, even if his value were less in 2 years, the return isn't gonna be lower because we aren't getting superstar value if we trade him now.

Plus we don't own our own picks.

I bet if Morey calls Brooklyn to make Harden available they'd give us a few 1sts, LeVert, Allen, etc.

Tilman is not hurting. Some of the business entities he owns are having struggles, but none of which has any impact on the rockets.

Payroll will never be a problem.

COVID-19 will never be a problem.

Trading two stars eating up 80% of the cap sounds real reasonable. I mean, after we traded Pippen - I really began to salivate over the return we got for a star. Why wouldn't I want us to do that again?

Genius, everyone is at home due to Corona.

Only Danuel might not get inside his 'house' at the moment.

Harden will never be traded in his prime. He still draws a "primetime" audience during the regular season. He stays unless he demands to be traded.

OP's argumentation was that there could be no audience next season either.

Nobody to cheer for Harden during the regular season.

I’m watching philly closely especially if MDA goes there.

I can see a Harden for Simmons trade.

James with Embiid and Harden is close with meek mill as well.

Simmons comes here as the next Superstar pierce to build around.

And if that’s the case Russ has to definitely go as well.

Ben Simmons??? Jesus Christ. If all you're getting back for James mother****ing Harden is a trade centered around Ben "2 3's a month" Simmons, then you should be slapped into next week. What the absolute **** is going on with this board lately? James Harden is NOT getting traded. He is the cornerstone of this franchise, and will almost certainly retire a Rocket. There are avenues Morey can explore to improve the roster, but trading Harden is not one.

Wonder if Morey would resign if owner orders him to trade Harden.

    James with Embiid?

Are you in a coma for the last 10 months and not realized what kind of basketball that Harden likes to play?

Have you ever thought about that Morey actually love money more than Tillman does?

This is a shitty franchise, but you need to remember there are many other way more pathetic franchises out there also.

A prediction - he might as well sell the team if this is the case.

Nobody wants westy. He can't be moved. It's hard to trade Harden without taking salary back that hurts the sale prospects of the team while also damaging the short term revenue. You might as well sell high on Harden and the Rockets rather than selling high on one rather than the other.

In an historically weak draft? Nah
