I know that everyone wants the Rockets (assuming they make the playoffs) to play Minnesota in the first round. Heck, even a survey on the homepage was over 68% in favor of us playing Minnesota. Well I used to want to play them too, but they just beat Sacramento in Arco tonight and are the #1 seed in the West. If they win out, they'll have homecourt througout the playoffs. I wouldn't want to face this team. I understand that we were 2-2 agaisnt them in the regular season, but the postseason is a whole new season. An MVP in KG, One of the most clutch (and always plays well against the Rockets) Sam Cassell, and Latrell Spreewell who has been to the Finals. Wally is starting to get healthy and Kandi is efficient. That first round curse is BS. This team is dangerous. If the playoffs started today, we'd play Sacramento. I don't think we'll have much success, but I like out chances more against them. If Chris Webber continues to hurt them more than help, I think we could be competitive with them.

Bring on the Lakers, Spurs, Kings, T-Wolves, Grizzlies, or Mavericks. Don't matter. The worst that can happen is a first-round sweep- and to be quite honest, any one of these teams can sweep us, even Minny and Memphis.

However, we can beat any one of these teams. When you get to the final 8 in the Western Conference, you have to be somewhat good. I have seen time and time again 8th and 7th seeds who have given the top dogs a run for their money, the greatest example being the Denver Nuggets against the Sonics in 1994.

The Sonics won 64 games that year and were considered a powerhouse. Payton, Kemp, Shrempf, plus a great bench- and who did Denver have?

    Dikembe Mutombo

That was about it. Most people didn't even know who Robert Pack and Brian Williams were before the playoffs. Yet those three took down the Sonics almost by themselves. They set the standard for NBA upsets. I don't give too much credit to JVG's 1999 Knicks team due to the shortened season, although you have to give them some credit for getting to the Finals.

If the 1994 Nuggets could do it, a much less talented team than ours, so can we.

If I had my druthers, we'd play the Orlando Magic in the first round. Unfortunately, we don't have much lattitude to pick. It'll either be Sacramento or Minnesota, it looks like, with a possibility for San Antonio or LA Lakers. None of these really look like favorable prospects.

    It cant be said enough...

Our best chance for a first round upset would be to play minny. We match up very well with that team, and have played them well all season.

Why settle for any team that we get in the 1st round? Sure its great that we got to the playoffs, but still, why wouldn't you want to see the Rockets advance...I dont think it will surprise many people if we do beat Minny in the 1st round. Before our losing streak, Im pretty sure most teams would rather play some other team besides us. The thing is that we have nothing to lose, and plus, when the Rockets are on, they can be very deadly.

I would just be happy with the Rox playing anyone in the first round - I believe this team will play well - once they relax a little. and they can't relax until they get that playoff monkey off their bakc

Don't forget about LaPhonso Ellis and Reggie Williams who also played great vs Seattle, who won 63 games in 1994.

With Cato playing more minutes against the Clippers the other night, we all witnessed the team playing very different(better). I think tonight will prove that we are back on track now that cato is back. For those who were wondering through out the season if Taylor should get the starting position, we witnessed what would happen if he were to start. Lets keep our hopes up and lets see if they pull an upset against minny for the 1st round.

That's how I feel. Anybody but the Spurs. We just don't match up well at all against them.

Honestly i don't care who we play. I think the most exciting matchup would be against the Lakers. Yao vs. Shaq for possibly 7 games, just doens't get any better than that. Regardless of who they play it'll be tough to win.

What's this? A lone voice of reason here amongst the true believers? Will the wonders ever cease?
