OK, Everyone take off their rose colored glasses and look at the realistic picture here. Horry does not EVEN start, he is another Kelvin Cato, he plays in spurts when he wants to or is motivated, and that is not very often any longer. His game has not improved ONE bit since he left, and in fact is a worse player now. I don't want him, remember that Rudy had to trade his a$$ just to make him start shooting the ball. Robert Horry....PASS !!!! DaDakota- Home of the realism patrol ------------------ If you like RTS games, check out this one. www.frontierwars.com coming soon to a PC near you.
THANK YOU DADAKOTA!!! HORRY IS NOT WORTH TRADING FOR, AND IS NO BETTER THAN SHANDON ANDERSON. ------------------ blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah
Horry IS better than Shandon Anderson...and might be able to help out with rebounding at SF, something Shandon doesn't do much of. Shandon might be a better defender one on one, but Horry isn't bad, plus he can block some shots. He is definitely worth #23. ------------------ Now saw off...there's nothing to see here.
Amen DaDakota! Horry is slacker that has maybe 5 or 6 decent games a year. How soon some people forget why he was dumped in the first place. I didn't forget and I hope Rudy hasn't either..... ------------------
Horry is a punk, I know I met him..but that doesn't matter, what matters is he has creaky knees and I simply just don't see it. ------------------ Rarely is the question asked: Guns kill squirrels than REDRUM to fools across the nation?
That would not be a good move for Houston, unless we can ship out Cato to LA. 1. If we trade walt in a combination for Horry, LA gets the extra cap room next year (not houston) when Walts contract expires, and we get stuck with Horrys contract for the next 3 years. This is why Walt has value right now, because any team looking for space next year would love to have him. 2. If we trade a 1st round pick, then we still loose 5 million off the cap this year, which would limit us in trying to get Marc Jackson, etc... Cato trade is the only thing that would work, but as that story states, LA is looking for some cap relief!! I would love to have Horry back, but I would rather have Marc Jackson and try to move up in the draft for Joe Johnson or Rodney White. ------------------
The Rockets won't be under the cap until something is done with some of the following players in regards to payroll: Dream Walt Cato Any Horry deal in June is assuming that many other pieces will fall into place later in the summer. Many on this BBS view Walt and Cato as overpaid journeymen and need to be shipped out. Horry is not a star (read: journeyman) and has only had sucess when paired with the dominant centers in the NBA (Dream & Shaq). Horry at the salary quoted is overpaid and would be a bad idea. There was an article in the LA Times last week where Horry declined to opt out of his contract saying his wife told him to take the money. I have no idea if he still would have the option to opt out. Now that being said Horry is not better than Anderson. That being said Horry has his upsides and his downsides which are both pretty obvious. He is clutch and his weak side defense would be a luxury this team has been lacking but his lack of intensity is frustrating beyond belief. I would do this trade if the right pieces are involved. What really bothers me about this rumor is why whould the rockets trade a draft pick for a player making around 5 million year and averaging like 5 ppg. This would completely eliminate the Webber option. It wouldn't suprise me if Walt was in a deal like this but the rumor say the Lakers are trying to get out of ppaying the luxury tax so that would not apply either. Maybe a three way? ------------------
Hey Mango, There's a thread calling your name over here... I hope you're not going soft and relaxing on your duty as Forum Police... ------------------ Beauty, was the allure that brought me close to you, Loneliness, was the bond that made me stick like glue, All fantastic images, they only are apparent, Promoted by desperate hope, That things are somewhere better.
BGM, I looked in that thread earlier and saw an Admin post in it two hours ago. He could have rerouted it to another Forum and he passed on the chance. Does it belong in the NBA Forum because of the Philly-Laker game angle or in the Hangout Forum because of the music slant? Mango ------------------ Get it right or just don't do it! I see your dilemma... ------------------ Beauty, was the allure that brought me close to you, Loneliness, was the bond that made me stick like glue, All fantastic images, they only are apparent, Promoted by desperate hope, That things are somewhere better.
It is sad, pathetic, ironic and amusing that BGM posts an off topic complaint about another thread being off topic ON THIS THREAD. We are having a nice discussion about the possibility of Horry coming to Houston, and the self appointed board tattle tell chooses this thread to make a complaint about the half time show thread. BGM, you spend a lot of energy worrying about what others are doing here. Lighten up. How about opining about Horry and allowing the free flow of discussions to continue. It is not as if someone started discussing bass fishing or basket weaving. Besides, the Francis connection to Destiny's Child is sufficient nexus to the Rockets to warrant a temporary diversion, which is all that discussion was. ------------------
why are you guys so big on posts being in the "right" forum? a post is a post, everyone reads them. and ROXRAN, why is horry a punk? ------------------
I wasn't being serious, that is why I included a " ". I guess I need to include multiple " "s so you guys can catch on to how serious I really am. Maybe you guys should learn to lighten up as well? Just a suggestion... I'll even add to the discussion... Robert Horry's old, he didn't leave on the best of terms, and he's a non-factor during the majority of the season. He's not worth 5 million. ------------------ [This message has been edited by Band Geek Mobster (edited June 14, 2001).]
OK, BGM. I guess the nuances of smilies escape me. I have to admit that I largely ignore them as distractions. ------------------
Oops. Forgot to comment on Horry, just to stay safely on topic. My condition on Horry as a Rocket is that we get him for a vet minimum or exception, not exceeding $2.5 mil per year and not for more than two years. He's at best a 24 minute per game guy, but he could prove valuable when this team makes the playoffs. It looks like the discussion is academic in view of his recent statements regarding staying with the Lakers. ------------------
What's up with Robert Horry's picture appearing on the home page? Is it because of the "retro" look, and the '95 championship, or are there hidden messages to be read out of this? Inquiring conspiracy theorists want to know! ------------------ Founding Father of the Refs Suck Club
