Who are we going to give up and loose in the Bobcats draft?

I was thinking that we could free up some room if we had these three on the list:

    Cato

    MO T

    and Spoon

We'll only loose one. I would be interested in ya'lls opinion on the mater.

Get rid of that freak Yao Ming

    ;)

Honestly, I think that Adrian Griffin, Spoon, Cato and Mo will be on the list. We'll probably loose Cato and/or MoT.

How will the expansion draft work? Will the bobcats get to pick 12-13 players from any unprotected player on any other NBA team and then get their 2 draft picks?

it's "lose" man... not "loose". Loose means "not tight". :D

We need Cato. Yao needs Cato.

I'd give up Spoon out of the 3, mainly 'cause of his age.

    Scientist,

I was thinking that we had to put a list of 3 players out there and if/when the Bobcats select someone we'll be able to bring the other 2 players back.

I've read where it would be highly unlikely that the Rockets would give away Francis....so don't think that this has any thing to do with him. Just stoping all of the Francis talk before it gets started. ;)

    Hmmmmm.

Mo and Cato will be on the list. Cato has proved himself invaluable, but it's all about the salary cap nowadays, and only a few owners are free-wheeling spenders.

If they take Cato, we might try to sign Stromile Swift (and see if the Grizz match) or Marcus Camby (it's a Knick thing) with the MLE.

The Bobcats wouldn't touch Mo's contract, though.

I don't think that Cato will be on the list because JVG likes him and is his type of player. The order of players I think are most likely to be on the list to least likely are:

    Adrian Griffin
    Spoon
    Mo Taylor
    Boki
    Piatkowski

I sometimes wonder if people here think the whole league is after our trash. "Hey, we don't want them so other teams will."

The Rockets will most likely protect these 8 players

    Yao
    Francis
    Mobley
    Jim Jackson
    Cato
    Taylor
    Nachbar
    Pike

Padgett, M Jackson, Wilkes will be FAs and are inelligable.

Spoon and A Griffin will be left unprotected.

It doesnt make sense to leave Cato or Taylor unprotected (even though they have large contracts) because they have more value for us. Additionally the Bobcats wont take them anyway because they are looking for young guys or small contracts. I dont expect them to take anyone from us.

    Protected list:

    1. Yao
    2. Francis
    3. Mobley
    4. Jackson
    5. Nachbar
    6. Cato
    7. Taylor
    8. Griffin

Spoon and Pike will be exposed, because they are probably somewhat overpaid, and not essential.

Not sure about Cato, but MoT should not be protected. Noway an undersized below average PF should be paid 27mil for the next 3 years. Anybody take MoT's contract is doing Rockets a big favor. That 9mil a year can get us a top notch PF nowadays.

call me crazy, but it seems logical to leave Mo unprotected and to get that albatross of a contract off the books. Don't get me wrong, Mo is a nice offensive player, but that contract sux. This would help us in the salary cap situation and would allow some more flexibility in who we get back for steve.

it would also be a nice fit for the bobcats, because it would give them a four that can drop 20 a game in the east. Probably even give them 8 rebounds a game.

whenever someone says that, im reminded of the spoon for amaechi and mooch trade. of course we gave up a pick, but its not like we've been brilliant with our draft choices.

MoT will be unprotected (also unwanted and unloved) - - - and hopefully we bribe them to take him!
Maybe throw in draft picks. Better yet, maybe they would take a few of our decent players with good deals (Jax/Pike/Nachbar/Griffin). It would let them round out their team with servicable players on the cheap and would let us get rid of our worst contract. Losing the bench players would hurt - but there will be others (of slightly lesser talent) that can be signed.
Man, getting rid of MoT's contract would be sooo nice - we could actually sign somone.

plus - Charlotte could cut MoT and he would not eat up their salary cap like he would ours if we cut him (special rule allows them to cut players and not have their salary stay on the cap - they still have to be paid but they get their cap space back)

I think MO T will be picked up by the bobcats, IMO
Cato's got a real strong chance too, seeing how this team will be in the east

I'd keep Cato and Taylor. Cato takes a lot off of Yao when he's in the game. Mo's offense off the bench is something I dont think this team can afford to lose.

So, Charlotte is going to pay off the $20M+ remaing on Taylor's contract just so they can cut him? Ok, I've gotta ask, why would they do that?

If I had to make a guess, I'd say that none of our players get selected by Charlotte. As stated earlier, the only players they will select are: 1) young, low priced players with upside. There won't be many of those left unprotected 2) players that they are compensated to pick. Teams will give them a 1st round pick to take a contract off of their hands. So basically, the pick they get has to be worth the amount that they have to pay off on the contract. 3) low salaried guys (especially guys with team options on next year). These players will be paid off and released and they won't be reflected against the cap.

We won't have any young guys with upside available, we can't possibly offer them enough draft picks to make it worth their while to eat the remaing years of one of our big contracts and won't make any low priced guys available.

Charlotte will be building through the draft and free agency. They won't come out of the expansion draft with much.

the general consensus here is that spoon will be left unprotected.

    the 8 we protect are:
    yao
    cato
    jj
    cat
    steve
    mo
    pike
    boki

the fisrt 6 are obvious. we keep boki for the upside. and the last spot is between pike and ag. i go with pike because he has goten more pt that ad this season.

the outcome is the they will never take spoon. but if they are interested at all in being competititve next season they will take ag. every team can use a defender like him.
