He means well but he has no clue what he is talking about despite likely having a college level education. This 6% nonsense is malarkey and anyone who has filled out a death certificate knows you go from the immediate cause of death and work up 1-4 levels to the triggering event. So an example would go: 1. ARDS 2. Pneumonia 3. COVID-19

Right. By his "6%" standards, HIV/AIDS has never killed anyone.

This is always an interesting topic, especially with libertarians.

What is the answer to this perceived issue?

    Here's an interesting article...

    https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2020/09/the_big_covid_con_exposed.html

One of the great grifter movies, aside from the Clinton and Obama presidencies, is The Sting. Henry Gondorff (Paul Newman) and Johnny Hooker (Robert Redford} team up, “to pull off a complicated scheme known simple as the Big Con,” a racket to crush Doyle Lonnegan (Robert Shaw) and his empire.

We have had several iterations of the Big Con over the past four years, with Gondorff and Hooker played by a rotating cast including James Comey, John Brennan, James Clapper, Joe Biden, Susan Rice, Hillary Clinton, and Barack Obama. All schemed and conspired to destroy Donald Trump and his family and presidency.

Thanks for the sincere reply -- much appreciated.

I completely agree that something like Facebook or Twitter are more like a utility company than, say, a local dry cleaners shop. But instead of comparing to a traditional utility (where we all need electricity and water), maybe we could compare them to something like a wireless provider. They provide a service / platform on which people can just enjoy themselves or conduct business.

But that said, to think of an analogy related to behavior, let's look at a water/sewer utility. The only way you can get your account shut down, pretty much, is to not pay your bills. But what if everyone shared water in a more fluid (har!) way. If a customer routinely fouled the water of other customers and they decided to use less of your water, order bottled water, and hurt your income, what would you do as the water/sewer utility? You would probably need some sort of policy -- hell there may even be such a policy for all I know -- to warn, fine, and even close the account of the befouling customer who was hurting your business.

In any case, I disagree that these platforms have the ability to dictate the narrative of the entire nation. That's a little extreme. There are always other platforms (and now right-leaning alternatives like Paler). And it's really not like Twitter or Facebook or Youtube could maintain any sort of healthy business if they became a Soviet style or DPRK style propaganda machine. Their very market share depends on keeping as many users and opinions involved and happy as possible. When one segment becomes so extreme that it drives off other segments, then they have a problem.

    That's a great post.

I may need to borrow your "sh!tting in the communal water supply" analogy someday.

Exactly. This big victim hood complex is why these trump supporters do stupid **** like that boat parade. Nobody is out to get you. In fact nobody gives a **** about you. @Os Trigonum anf others have an easier time accepting that there are unfair systems than place the blame on themselves

I didn’t read the specifics (again I don’t usually read his posts) , but let me guess overestimating COVID 19 deaths?

these fools think we sign death certificates like we’re having fun and want to get sued when there’s a documentation, proof, labs for every patient that could amount to entire book.
