According to Sports Media Watch, Wednesday night’s Game 7 between the Houston Rockets and Oklahoma City Thunder was the most-watched opening round NBA playoff game on cable television in two years. It was also the top-rated first-round game on ESPN in three years. The Rockets-Thunder Game 7 was the largest audience for any NBA game on any network since January 31, 2020. That January game was the first for the Los Angeles Lakers following the death of Kobe Bryant, and it was lifted by an extensive pregame ceremony in front of home fans. https://rocketswire.usatoday.com/20...er-game-7-gives-nba-major-bump-in-tv-ratings/ Looks like the Silver will have no choice, but to allow us to the finals.
Rockets-Lakers is going to break that record. Then Rockets-Clippers will break THAT record. Finally, Rockets-Celtics will break ESPN and NBA upside their heads.
And they say harden is boring to watch lol harden and the rockets get all those Christmas Day prime time slots for a reason
Wait, but I thought that the NBA was alienating people? I thought people were done with the NBA after the boycott? How strange
What else you gonna do on a Wednesday night with COVID on the loose? Seriously though, "most watched opening round NBA playoff game on cable television in two years" is getting pretty damn specific. lol.
I guess a lot of those idiots who said they were done with basketball because of political views actually watched lol.
You saw the Nuggets Jazz game 7 the day before? It was a horrendous lesson in futility. In contrast, the Rockets/ OKC game was a thing of beauty. Tense. Close. Lead changing. Big players stepping up at the end and making plays.
I know what that is...that those punkA** nba fans from around the world, hoping and praying on the demise of James Harden and the Rockets. TOO BAD they didnt get to see what they wanted.
All the Harden haters were watching. They were all so thrilled througout the game...until the last play.
A lot of y'all are attached to the idea of everyone hating the Rockets. And yes Harden/Microball receive a lot of hate from various pundits. But isn't it also possible that we have a couple of beloved, marketable superstars and lots of and lots of people want to watch them? I'm proposing that the millions of actual fans watching are not well represented by the loudest voices on twitter and the screaming pundits on TV/Youtube.
Beloved they are not but people like WB's heart when he is not turning it over. Harden is polarising though, some say he is hated but it's probably jealousy too. Somehow I really had hopes for him when he was 6th man but never figured he would have this kind of journey. I thought he would be more Magic than Jordan or Kobe. He turned into a hybrid. Didn't see this knack and ambition for scoring and foul drawing though.
