yao just needs to push around some other player so no one will mess with him. Give them a nice flagrant foul or something.

Yao needs to play like a killer, whoever hacks him get something in return. That way, nobody dared to hack him anymore, you got to play like you want to win.

For example, last time I played pick up ball, this guy been grabbing me and hit me every time down court with an elbow. I got really mad, and the next time he sets a pick, I ran right through him like he's not even there (pretending not seeing the pick chasing the other guy) Now he knows better than to play dirty with me.

Some suggested Yao should announce retiring then Stern will do some about it. That's for sure but way too negative so i think here are the options.

First and i think that's what Yao is doing now, posted by SINA.com that Yao's too frustrated about refs just didn't want to do any post game interviews and it has been going for 2 games. I hope the whole team starts doing this until the situation is rectified. We'll sure get fined but also get the attention.

Second, Yao should give some hard and flagrent foul. As simply as Shaq usually does when a guard, like Steve wants to dunk on him. If Bibby hit you on the face and get away from the refs, just put his back on the floor on the other end. Otherwise, the only thing they will do is to keep fouling you.

I am not sure about the racist thing, but i look at it this way: it took American twenty years and thousands of Hollywood movies to convince some of my Chinese fellow that America is a fair place, more fair than most of other places in the world, and boy the refs just burned that concept in a few games...

agreed. that is like race mixing and balls and rims don't mix with the rockets. they must be seperated at all times. the refs are doing their job enforcing this segregation.

exactly. a very smart statement. just cause they are not racist against blacks dont mean they aint against Yao Ming. We all know there is a double standard in this country where its okay to make fun against Asians and not against blacks.

Geez..how many times do you guys have to be given evidence that racism exists in this great country of ours. WE've become so uncomfortable with it that we just want to duck our heads in the ground and pretend it doesn't exist.

The FACTS are, just a few months ago, a Dallas announcer pronounced Yao's name with a mock chinese accent. Shaq has used a mock chinese accent. Steve Kerr called Yao a "china man".
I would hate to imagine all the trash-talking Yao receives from his opponents. Is it too far-fetched to think some players might use racial slurs as trash talk against Yao?

Since the refererees are black or white, why is it such a stretch to believe some might be biased against a chinese player? Clearly, Yao is getting the short end of the stick. Clearly, the officiating has been heavily slanted against Yao. (pun intended). So, given that Yao is chinese, and human nature being what it is, why is it so difficult to believe racism is not a part of the biased officiating?

I don't buy this argument that such behavior is impossible or crazy. When the announcers on TV comment about the poor officiating against Yao, when Jeff Van Gundy who is white, openly complains about the officiating against Yao, and how he's being officiated DIFFERENTLY from everyone else, racism HAS to be considered as one of the reasons for this bias. If it's not racism, what else could it be?

Think of it this way. When Jackie Robinson first played baseball in the major leagues, he faced massive racism from players, officials, team mates, fans, everyone. Back then racism was overt and open.

These days, racism still exists but it's not overt anymore. Yao Ming is like the chinese Jackie Robinson. Although NBA is predominatly black, the fact is, the majority always resists the minority. NBA is a basically a black game, and blacks definitely do not want to see chinese or any other race succeed, especially asians. They want the status-quo. They may tolerate ONE or TWO superstar white guy here or there, but a chinese guy? NO WAY. So I don't doubt for a minute that Yao faces extraordinary resistence from fellow NBAers, and officials. Nobody wants to see a chinese NBAer succeed.

Whites like to see Yao play against Shaq because they're in a no-lose winonly situation. Either way, they get to see either a black man, or a china-man defeated or humiliated, and they're gloriiously happy over it. If Shaq loses, they delight in seeing a super rich, super powerful black man defeated. If Yao loses, they delight to see a chinaman defeated and humilaited. Since there is no super-star white center (bradley proved to be a bust but I remember when he first came, he was like the Great White Hope), this is why Whites HYPE up and drive Yao-Shaq matches like it's the super-bowl. Meanwhile, neither party really relishes this or understands why there's such a hype. Shaq himself has complained to the media that it's really hyped up media creation. Yao likewise always downplays his "matches" with Shaq and tries to not embarrass himself.

And of course, the great white masses feel differently for all the reasons I gave.

Racism exists in 2004. And it's primarily white racism.

    That's a fact.
