PS2 problem

    Alright, a few people may recall that I was trying to find a cheap PS2. I found one. Problem is it plays audio and PS1 games, but won't read PS2 games or DVD's. I wrote the guy back, and he said it was apparently real easy to fix.

    Of course, I've got no idea how to do this. Does anyone know what is wrong with it, or how to fix this problem?

    does it say "disc read error"?

    I think I know what your problem is: You bought a PS1 in a PS2 case.

    After a couple of minutes of reading it says that. Typically, I'll put in a psx disc, and it sees it fine. If I put in a ps2 disc, it sees nothing. ie, when you go to browse, it only shows the mem card.

    Fatty, go get one of those cd/dvd/ps2 lens cleaners. that has always worked for me. I've had these problems as well.

    Thanks. I'll try that first. BTW, any reason why it will read all the ps1 games and not the ps2 games? That seems odd to me.

    Yeah, this is the number one problem with early PS2 models. Very easy to fix.
