Granted, Yao did not play well last night. However, slow motion clearly shows that Speedy hacked Yao on the arm to get the steal in the 1st half, and Robinson hit Yao on the arm in the two handed dunk in late 4th quarter. That Speedy's hack and so called "block", how a human ref could miss those foul calls? That may take out any offensive edge Yao had in the game.

I have watched enough NBA games, I know if some one hacking offensive player like Speedy did against Yao, and if someone blocks a dunk from side/hehind like that againt Yao, that would be automatically called foul. But agaist Yao Ming, everything is OK.

This is just two very obvious examples in last night's game against the Warriors. Unfortunately this has become a routine against Yao in every freaking game (we have seen worse) and Yao is arguably the only center in the NBA that won't get these obvious calls.

After being frustrated for the whole season, I have to conclude that the NBA referees are racist.

Yao does get the short end of the stick on calls.

He has 2 hands in his back on every trip down the court.....and he is constantly getting undercut or dislodged....

He is getting fouled a lot...

What Yao needs to do is to get a tech after a bad call (or noncall)...don't know what that would do, but it would be fun to watch.:p

After wasting my time in reading your post, I have to conclude that this thread is a waste of space.

Time to start a yearly nba draft of referees. May be we could import some foreign referees too. Equal opportunity for the whole world. Better yet, any high school phenom will be wholeheartedly welcomed. Losing teams also get to pick their favorite referee candidates. That'll certainly end the Fakers's advantage over the years. Let's us all email Stern on this. This is urgent. It'll definitely change the basketball as we know it!

How does pgabriel get such credit over me! ;)

The refs aren't racist but Steves tirade a few weeks ago didn't help.

They aren't racist, but I do think they have it in for us...Remember Pat Riley's tirade last year...JVG needs to do this and get fined...

By the players being vocal, it is affecting how we are viewed, thus we don't get the calls we should...

BTW, Yao gets hacked all the time and he gets no calls what so ever...

I'm not saying whether the refs are racist or not. BUT...

I think deep in everyone's collective unconscious, there are preconceived notions about certain races. Everyone, even mother Teresa, had to have been on some level biased. The perceived meekness, or lack of agression, of the asian culture certainly doesn't help Yao in those benefit of the doubt calls. I don't think asian players get a lot of respect in sports because of the reputation for not being athletic.

I don't know if I'd go to the extreme to say NBA refs, as a fraternity, are racist. But there's something there...

So my request to everyone is not to ridicule this thread before thinking about it more thoroughly.

I don't agree that refs are racist, but I agree that refs are biased against Yao. Our human nature usually has pity on those weaker one. Refs treat Yao and O'neal differently, because they have the excuse even they give O'neal a lot of free thows that will not hurts the weakers. That is unfair to Yao.

Check that, Now that I remember Troy Murphy and Mike Dunleavy actually were getting all the calls last night agianst the Rockets. Damn refs, I wish the Umpires were racist like them casue then the Whitest team in MLB history, AKA the Astros would be getting all the calls as well.

The ref hate in here these days is almost as dumb as the Amare hate. Both nice scapegoats, but the Houston Rockets lost that game in Phoenix and the Houston Rockets lost that game in GS. And they would've lost those games with or without the silly perceived evils of the refs and Amare. They were determined to lose and they did. Steve would rather throw an elbow at Amare than win and some of you guys would rather win a debate with the refs than win the games.

Then again Yetti equated criticism of Yao with racism just last night and we all know what a genius he is. Maybe you're just ahead of the curve.
