In June 1992, farmers in Longyou drained the water of five small ponds in their village. The ponds turned out to be five large manmade caverns. Further investigation revealed 19 more caverns nearby. They have been determined to be more than 2000 years old, and their construction is not recorded in any historical documents.

The caves are very large considering their man-made origin: the average floor area of each cave is over 1,000 square metres (11,000 sq ft), with heights of up to 30 metres (98 ft), and the total area covered is in excess of 30,000 square metres (320,000 sq ft).

These caves are so weird -- completely hidden and in perfect condition after 2000 years -- the size is unreal.

Seems made up. They didn't have tract lighting 2000 years ago, just regular incandescent bulbs.

I am reading the book Sting-Ray Afternoons and it is full of interesting stories about the 60's and 70's.

Two things I read about I had never heard of. Fred Bait, the inventer of the Pringles can left his dying wish to be cremated and buried in a Pringles can.

The other was about the Highway Hi-Fi in the 50's that played 7 inch 45 rpm records. It was available as a factory-installed option in new Chrysler products. It was an absolute failure.

buddha left his wife and child in the middle of the night ..

    presumably for cigarettes
*edit also all of buddhas reasons for leaving are a bit flimsy ( #3 particularly funny to me since wife and kid forgave him lol:

    "
One of the criticisms of Buddhism that the Buddha-to-be (Prince Siddhattha Gotama) left his wife and son to seek enlightenment. But on further investigation, this is not a valid criticism on at least the following ten points:

    • 1. It was the custom, cultural norm at the time (in India) for young men to leave home and enter the homeless life as an ascetic.
    • 2. The prince was leaving to achieve a greater purpose that would eventually benefit not only all humans but also his wife and son.
    • 3. His wife and son forgave him.
    • 4. His wife and son would be well taken care of, at least materially.
    • 5. He left unwillingly as well, not neglecting a last look at his wife and son before leaving.
    • 6. He wasn't a Buddha (enlightened yet)
    • 7. He came back after enlightenment to visit and teach his family
    • 8. Yashodhara became a bhikkhuni (nun)
    • 9. His son, Rahula became a bhikkhu (monk)
    • 10. Some teachers say that he received permission from his wife to leave

Learned about the omegaverse and an author's attempt to claim copyright ownership of an entire genre of fan fiction with petty lawsuits.

I also learned people that write this type of fiction and self publish on Amazon and other digital media outlets make high six figure to low seven figure salaries. Dare to dream!

The Marlins have never lost a post season series in their team history . They have won two World Series titles . They have won 7 series and lost zero series. They play the Braves today.
