Surprised Lue garners so much interest. Does everyone suddenly forget he had LeBron on his team in a weak East?
So Elton Brand gets a Free Pass and not get fired having So many Centers on the Team. Firing Sam Hinkie looks even worse now, Sam Hinkie Drafted Joel, Simmons was a different GM choice and obviously they dont fit together as Players. Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons Should be a Center because of no 3 point shot, Al Horford, Tobias Harris is a 3 Point stretch Center, Kyle O Quinn.
Would Brown be a good consideration if MDA isn't retained? He's supposedly an extremely positive guy...someone who gets close to the players and knows how to develop guys...however, his X's and O's isn't considering the best and he has been hit often with the fact that he doesn't hold players accountable. Then again, he was constantly having to rebuild until Embiid and Simmons arrived, and then was asked to win with hardly any shooters as the front office never did him any favors.
They gave $35,000,000 per year to Tobias Harris. I'm not hating on him. They just really overspent on a bunch of bigs. Not much you can do with a lopsided lineup. As a fan of the Rockets, you can also go too far to the other extreme.....but I digress.
Not likely. While he has experience and also is progressive, he isn't really accomplished and he also doesn't have a reputation of holding players accountable. If the Rockets were to move away from MDA and go after a coach with a similar philosophy, they would be more likely to go for Alvin Gentry. I personally think if the Rockets move away from MDA, they will replace him with someone that is flexible on offense, but is more detailed oriented. Someone like Kenny Atkinson would be a very strong choice. They could also go after someone like Kelvin Sampson. Right now there are a lot of really good assistant coaches that are very qualified..... Chris Finch, Charles Lee, Stephen Silas, Will Hardy and Chip Engelland all are young assistants that would be strong candidates for upcoming vacancies. If the Rockets decide they want a veteran coach that brings a new wrinkle, they can always look to someone like Dave Joergger.
Their resource management has been an absolute joke. They had a bottomless pit of useful stuff (valuable role players, picks, cap space), and its basically all gone.
It is largely gone because ownership listened to the NBA League Office and brought in Colangelo to chase out Sam Hinkie. They then listened to the NBA League Office again and hired Elton Brand. They also pushed for older, established players based on the suggestions of the league and the idiots the league suggested run the Sixers. So here they are, without much left other than the players on their roster. The NBA League Office is giddy too because they can champion the idea that a complete tank did not work in Philadelphia and teams should avoid following suit or advertising a lack of competitiveness. Black balling Hinkie wasn't enough.... they wanted blood and got it.
Colangelo and Brand should be fired. No amount of coaching changes will save the team if the top of the organization is bad. This is why we Rockets fans are worried because we cannot trust the very top of our team.
Ty Lue Considered Prime Candidate For 76ers Ty Lue is considered one of the top coaching candidates this offseason and is seeking $7 million per season, a league source tells Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer. Lue is the prime candidate for the Philadelphia 76ers' head coaching job and is also a candidate for the New Orleans Pelicans and Brooklyn Nets, while he's also monitoring the Chicago Bulls' coaching vacancy. Lue could settle for $5 million to $6 million per season despite seeking $7 million. Philadelphia owes Brett Brown approximately $10 million on the final two seasons of his deal. Lue and the 76ers have mutual interest.
