They are potentially passing the buck on making a demand to the owners, when its their protest. They have to lay out a plan. Its why I think its all optical and has nothing to do with how they really feel.
It's true, no one cares about them for any reason other than how well they play basketball, if they cancel the season, they immediately become irrelevant. That said, I can't imagine many people caring about their opinion on social issues even when they are playing....but at least when playing they have a platform from which to spout off all manner of nonsense they so desire.
