Yeah new GFS came in east as well. This is really good news for us. We now have an established storm and this close to landfall the chance of these models being far off is getting slimmer and slimmer.

    Can confirm.

Just went to my local Randalls, where there's no more than 10 customers at any time on any given weekday.

    It was packed.

If you just watch the storm satellite animations it just “looks” like a Louisiana landfall.

**That doesn't mean you should let your guard down!** We will still see impacts and some significant ones in our area There is always the risk that the track could shift back a bit closer to us, but we feel fairly confident that the *worst* will pass to our east.

I think our biggest concerns right now are with respect to some strong winds at the coast and storm surge. That is expected to be 3-5' in Galveston and Galveston Bay and higher as you move up the Bolivar Peninsula. That's still a significant issue.

Laura's winds right now extend out 175 miles east of the center (and a good bit less to the west), and the storm is not getting any smaller. Any shift west could bring some of those stronger, power-outage inducing winds to the Houston metro. You should remain cognizant of that.

If the track holds and landfall is at the border, does that mean almost no impact for Clear Lake area? Or should we still expect Tropical Storm force winds? I've seen conflicting info.

I only live to get radical. You want the ultimate, you gotta be willing to pay the ultimate price.

I would prepare for tropical storm winds at minimum.

Seems like a relatively small storm in terms of the extent of winds. Pending exact landfall, I'd guess you'll range somewhere between TS gusts and a brief period of TS sustained.

Slightly east yet again. Good for us. NHC stuck to their guns and it's looks like they were right all along.

The storm itself is strengthening pretty fast and will give coastal Louisiana quite a hit.

    Tilman can't catch a break.

I hate to say I'm happy Houston looks like it may be spared the worst, but that just means somebody else is about to get it, so everyone stay safe.

You have to consider population density. The storm avoiding a major city is always a good thing, yes it's sad the small cities and towns will have it rough, but it's overall a whole lot less harm done.

I'm dreading the chances of more refinery/chem plant leaks/fires though. If dealing with COVID and hurricanes ain't enough, let's toss some poison in the air and water.
