for BLM, everything is lips service until there is concrete actions and results. I don’t blame them for not trusting since society at large shut them down during Obama time and things have gotten worse since trump. They certainly do know that Biden is 1000000000x better than the other guys.

Until there's a slow drip of laws to reform, everything building up BLM so far is like Sandy Hook and a host of other mass casualty gun events.

The intransigence of Congress mostly through the filibuster and some "hallowed tradition of the Senate being the slow branch" has to end.

Legislation through Executive Order is the slow bipartisan step to an authoritarian government.

Legislating through court orders as the final end all is punting responsibility from elected officials and eroding public confidence of a functioning democracy

Why has passing laws in succession like the Johnson era become so rare that we're still debating and dissecting those same laws to this very day?

That's what the people have to answer when they see the government sliding into a polarized ungovernable and disappointing mess.

My guess is Tucker Carlson...he's got the highest rated show on FOXNews and is regularly spread around the internet. Either that, or just say FOXNews in its entirety since they have the most viewers on cable television and probably have a lot to do with the current direction of the Republican party.

that makes sense to me also. here's where I'm at a bit of a disadvantage, we don't have tv so I am mostly basing my impressions on what I read and/or on short video clips of what people include in written accounts. I don't have a lot of experience of watching Carlson

To be honest, I'm the same...I don't have cable TV...went to only streaming about 7-8 years ago because we weren't watching anything live except sports. Even with this setup, I'm not a huge TV watcher...sports and the occasional Netflix or Hulu show...maybe a movie here and there.

So, I just go by what I research...It's really hard to tell on the Republican side. Technically, if you go by YouGov's ranking, Arnold Schwarzenegger is the most popular Republican while Jimmy Carter is the most popular Democrat....however, I'd say that neither probably registers as the best messenger in the current climate.

You could make an argument for Jack from Twitter and Zuckerburg from Facebook as having the most power over messaging (republican and deomcrat) since they can influence messaging with algortihm changes, calling out lies, etc. However, I'm guessing that's not really the question at hand.

I don't know, it'll be interesting to see the stats from this week's RNC to see who gets the most views beyond Trump. My guess is that we'll see something along the lines of the DNC where Trump gets an outsized share of views as Michelle Obama did and the rest will probably get a fairly similar amount of views.

To be honest I wouldn't be surprised if Biden is a one term President assuming he wins. I just think of the public scandals that we know of with this administration and what will undoubtedly be discovered with Trump admins departure. It'll either be scorched earth between November and January if Trump doesn't win or poor efforts to cover the scandals that haven't surfaced yet but undoubtedly will with paper trails left behind by this administration post-January 21st, 2021. I imagine the state of the country is a lot worse than what we actually know meaning the clean up crew to follow up may have their hands tied in enacting legislation some of the more avid pushers of progressive policies may be disgruntled by, sowing further division within the Democratic party.

I just think of the fact that the Fed is at 0% interest rate already, tax cuts have already been implemented and we're still in the middle of a healthcare crisis that will likely heavily impair more equitable economic growth for more Americans than just those fortunate to be upper middle class or above until at least 2022 or possibly even 2023. What if RGB passes away before January and McConnell pushes a Supreme Court pick before Biden is sworn in? What if Senate majority retains being red come November and pushes legislative gridlock like during Obama's administration in the middle of a recession and healthcare crisis? Assuming the economy takes two to three years to rebound for the majority of Americans that's a lot of White House press briefings telling impatient Americans to remain calm that there will be a light at the end of the tunnel in 2023 while blaming the other side for their lack of cooperation. Whether it's true or not even, it does get drowned out eventually as Os has demonstrated on this BBS. Plus it's not like the 38% of Americans that are still dug in on Trump are just going to stop living here, some who are more conspiratorial over this pandemic and are more pre-disposed to draw a line across the sand over what shouldn't be partisan issues. It's going to be an uphill battle to restore normalcy to this country whoever wins in November. The damage may be so bad that it may take greater than four years before some semblance of normalcy is apparent which will be a hard sell for a second term again assuming Biden wins.

I mean college football may be over in 2020, but I'm skeptical Americans will tolerate it for another year, for instance. We have a knack for being an impatient lot of people, which I get. Life goes by incredibly fast.
