Nick Wright: Winner of Rockets / Lakers will win NBA Championship this year!

I know it's his job to make bold proclamations of this sort, but I just think this year more than any other any one of several teams could win it and I wouldn't be at all surprised.

 

Would want to hear how he got more hair transplants done.

 

Anyone shocked that the Rockets are crushing the Thunder isn't worth listening to.

The Thunder can't score over 110 in any scenario -- pace too slow and too many 2s. If the Rockets get in that range - and they almost always do - the Thunder cannot win. It was always that simple (and, yes, I said that before the series).

People who failed to see that this were likely going off of old tape just fundamentally misunderstand the strategy. They aren't worth listening to, even if they now support us.

This guy has had an anti-LAC schtick all year and he can't break away from it. This is just theater to get people riled up.

 

The only team that has beaten the rockets in the playoffs since Dantoni has gotten here, are teams that had great shooters and took a lot of 3's.

GSW which had historic offenses and shooters and the Spurs with Kawhi, Mills, Green, Ginobili, Gasol, etc. Their worst 3 point shooter was Parker at 33 percent. You aren't going to beat the rockets in a series by shooting 2's.

But he was right when Nick pulled it out of him, MDA instills an insane amount of confidence in his players, he empowers them and gets the very best version of themselves.

And Harden shooting bad also in the second game. A Rocket team firing on all cylinders would beat OKC by 30+.

 

Yeah, Clippers have the option to do defensive schemes Warriors did in previous seasons. Focus primary coverage on Harden mixed with specific traps to wear him down and hopefully pass the ball.

Tbh, their play so far feels like the regular season where they are composed. No one is complaining about MDA's rotation and playcalling yet.

We haven't witnessed intensity spike inside the bubble to the point of clearing benches. No one has started undercutting Harden's threes daring refs to call the foul and slow the game down. Someone like Pbev getting in the minds of Westbrook or Harden changes it into an unknown element this board melts down over.

Our MVP's headspace has been the achilles in the POs. Guess it's different in the bubble where you potentially clear the bench a game, then see the same guys in the dining area an hour later.

 

You're right - I wrote before watching it all. Plenty of people were "shocked." Even Vegas had OKC as a slight favorite, and 538 still had Rockets as weakest round one favorite. I didn't get it then, and still don't.

For the record, I don't think the Lakers are a huge threat. They are better than OKC, but in the same mold (slower and a lot of 2s). Dallas/Clippers winner is the one that scares me.

 

Rockets do great in first round and sometimes 2nd round if they get the jazz. But lets be honest if they can squeek by the lakers in 7 games. Do they really have a chance of beating the Clippers. Na. Rockets will not get there this year either. Hate on me if you want. Unless westbrook and harden take over games, and the team behind them really wants that chip as well.. Lakers, Clippers, Spurs, Warriors. Is there chemistry on this team?

This will be another 2016-17 year. Prove everyone wrong rockets and lets finally get past these elite teams to atleast have chance at the finals, they dont even have to win it. Just get there! lol I still will watch them even if they bounce out again this year.
