Yes that makes total sense, I was really just pointing out how corrupt Trump's administration has been since the get-go.

I was actually disappointed with this news. I thought Bannon's views were extreme, but I assumed he was at least devoted to his populist ideals. (There's a great Frontline interview with him on YouTube.)

But now, the chances seem high that he turned out to be just another grifter in an administration full of grifters. Sad.

I’m not surprised. Bannon probably does believe in those ideas but he’s also not above making a lot of money. Hes done well for himself and isn’t above screwing people over for money.

Not arguing with you, though I wouldn't say what Bannon's doing is believing in those ideas anymore. (if proven guilty, of course.)

Anyway, I was far from invested in the purity of Bannon and his cause lol.
There's still Stephen Miller and his wife, I suppose.

Come on. How many of those convictions were for political reasons by liberal government do gooders? That is like 90% right there. We know Flynn, Mannafort, Cohen, Stone and Bannon were all targeted by liberals in the government to undermine the President’s effort to drain the swamp.

Right now anyone associated with Trump has a bullseye on their back. The FBI is falsifying evidence to get at the President.

He will complete draining the swamp in his second or third term. Just wait and see, he will make America great again!

U.S. charges exiled Chinese businessman Guo Wengui with $1 bln fraud | Reuters

The U.S. government on Wednesday charged Guo Wengui, an exiled Chinese businessman with ties to former Donald Trump adviser Steve Bannon, with leading a complex conspiracy to defraud Guo's online followers out of more than $1 billion.

Authorities said Guo, with help from longtime financial adviser Kin Ming Je, cheated thousands of followers since 2018 by promising "outsized" investment returns, but diverting much of their money to fund lavish lifestyles for himself and his family.

Guo, 52, was charged with 11 criminal counts including securities fraud, wire fraud and concealment of money laundering, after "lining his pockets with the money he stole," U.S. Attorney Damian Williams in Manhattan said in a statement.

The defendant was arrested on Wednesday morning, and pleaded not guilty in Manhattan federal court before U.S. Magistrate Judge Katharine Parker, who ordered him detained without bail.

    BANNON ASSOCIATE
Guo, who has used other names like Ho Wan Kwok and Miles Kwok, has been a business associate of Bannon, who was arrested in a fraud case in August 2020 while aboard Guo's yacht, the Lady May.

Trump pardoned Bannon in the final hours of his presidency. Bannon is not accused of wrongdoing in Guo's criminal case.

The U.S. Department of Justice said it seized and is seeking the forfeiture of $634 million of Guo's alleged fraud proceeds from 21 bank accounts, including several at the now-closed Silvergate Bank.

It said it also seized assets purchased with proceeds from Guo's alleged fraud, including a Lamborghini Aventador, and wants Guo to forfeit the yacht.

The criminal charges carry several decades of potential prison time. Guo also faces related U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission civil charges.

Je, who lives in London and is also known as William Je, faces the same 11 criminal counts plus an obstruction charge. He is at large.

    'SERIAL FRAUDSTER'

"We allege that Guo was a serial fraudster," SEC enforcement chief Gurbir Grewal said in a statement.

Prosecutors said that in one offering, Guo raised $262 million through a cryptocurrency "ecosystem" called the Himalaya Exchange, which promised a so-called H Coin, also known as Himalaya Coin or HCN, with an estimated $27 billion valuation.

The indictment quoted from an October 2021 video in which Guo allegedly said 20% of H Coin's value was backed by gold, and that he would fully reimburse investors who lost money.

"Whoever loses money, I will bear it," Guo was quoted as saying.

In February 2022, Guo filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in Connecticut after a New York judge ordered him to pay $134 million for moving the Lady May out of a lender's reach.

Two men, including a long-time Sarasota County resident, were sentenced to prison Wednesday for their roles in an online fundraising scheme known as "We Build The Wall," according to a U.S. Department of Justice news release.

Andrew Badolato, 58, was sentenced to 36 months in prison, and Brian Kolfage, 41, of Miramar Beach, Florida, was sentenced to 51 months, according to the release.

Badolato was also sentenced to three years of supervised release, ordered to forfeit more than $1.4 million, and pay the same amount as restitution. Kolfage also received three years of supervised release, was ordered to forfeit more than $17.8 million, and pay more than $2.8 in restitution.

Badolato was charged with fraud in 2020 along with Steve Bannon, former White House chief strategist for Donald Trump, according to previous reporting by the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. Bannon and Badolato were accused of raising $25 million through private donors to build a portion of a border wall but kept at least $1 million for themselves.

Bannon was later pardoned by Trump in 2021 just hours before he left office, but Badolato did not receive a pardon.

Badolato initially pleaded not guilty, according to previous reporting, but then he and Kolfage each pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Kolfage also pleaded guilty to tax and wire fraud charges originally filed by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Florida.

According to the DOJ news release, Badolato, Kolfage, their co-defendant Timothy Shea, and others orchestrated the scheme starting in December 2018.

Kolfage falsely assured donors he wouldn't “take a penny in salary or compensation” and that “100% of the funds raised … will be used in the execution of our mission and purpose," in order to prompt people to donate, according to the release.

The men routed the money that was donated through entities and bank accounts they controlled, and produced fake invoices and sham contracts as a way to obscure what was really happening to the money, DOJ officials said in the release. Then, covertly the men would take some of the money for personal use, according to the release.

“Brian Kolfage and Andrew Badolato abused the trust of donors to We Build the Wall and stole hundreds of thousands of dollars in donations to line their own pockets," U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said. "The defendants have now been held accountable for their criminal conduct.”

As I said this morning. Even if Biden was actually senile and did nothing in office I wound still vote for him over Trump again. The Trump movement has been rife with grift and I don’t see anything changing with that.
