According to this story the Raptors are wanting to retool and maybe without Vince Carter. If we want to improve we need to break up our core of Francis and Yao. A trade with Toronto would accomplish exactly this. We would get a true point that doesn't turn the ball over much and a tough PF that can board like a mother. Also, Williams and Carter get around 5 apg, so that would dramatically increase the amount of passes. Im convinced that neither Carter or Yao can make a great by themselves, but with another star they could. What do you guys think???

Sending Francis back north of the border would be ironic. Otherwise, I don't know enough about the players involved to comment on your trade, but I would take Vince for Francis straight up.

And then during the summer we can also sign Brent Barry (FA) somehow? We have so many weapons in the offseason including a $6.5 million exemption. This summer should be intriguing to say the least. Imagine a line-up of...

    PG- Barry/Williams
    SG- Carter/Pike
    SF- Jackson/Griffin/Nachbar
    PF- Marshall/Cato
    C- Yao/Cato

If at all possible, I also think that we need to work at deepening our bench.

Toronto can't win with VC, what makes you think they can win with Steve?

The only way Toronto would get ride of VC is to have a huge expiring contract and some decent filters or high draft picks in return.

Maybe TE + Spoon + Cat would work.

OH baby, I'm all over that one. I think I've posted those parts in seperate threads, but I never put them all together.

    Yeah. Pull that trigger.

    ---------------

Splitting it up a bit -

Francis for Carter - done. VC and Yao get along, games fit. Good passing and jumpers from VC, with the occasional highlight drive.

CM5 for Alvin Williams. NO. Well, Ok. We replaced CM5 with Carter. IF Carter really likes playing with AM, fine. Otherwise, no. Alvin is ok, pretty good defensively and with 3s. We could trade for better, esp with a CM5 - Cato package.

Taylor for Marshall - DONE. THANK YOU! Ok, Toronto really needs Cato, so Bosh can play 4, not Taylor. But, whatever. Marshall is a good fit with Yao at 3 or 4.

They don't want Francis if they are ridding Carter. Mobley is a good substitution for Carter who is cheaper. Mobley and exception plus future pick makes sense for a rebuilding Raptors. Rockets need to go after Manu over the summer. Slasher and can pass. He knows how to play with a big man.

    Francis
    Carter
    Manu
    Taylor/Cato
    Ming

There's no way Les will keep all those big contracts, one of them has to be gone.

If we could find a GM dumb enough to give us Carter for Mobley, I'm bettin' he would. :D

Mobley is a competitor. He can both score and defend -- and he's a fearless warrior on the court. Mobley's contract is a bonus for the Rocks.

Carter doesn't defend and he is not the scorer he once was because he plays with fear now rather than the reckless abandon of his early years when he captured the imagination of the fans. Also, his current contract no longer reflects his skill level.

The people who want Carter remind me of the Magic fans who were so glad to get an injured Grant Hill. Be careful for what you wish. The new Toronto GM might grant it.

If it's a question of getting a high draft pick, I'll bet we could get Orlando's pick for Steve. Then parlay that pick into a proven player (Carter, Rashard, Redd maybe) or just draft Okafur.

Man, you just think of grabbing Okafur.

    Keep dreaming.

But Yao and Okafur frontline will just be such a dream combo.

LOL, you guys must be crazy if you think we'll trade Carter for Francis. You seriously need to stop posting while lucid dreaming.
As for Alvin, he is not a true PG, he can't shoot and his court vision is horrible, hell we'll trade him for a inflated ball if he can pass the physical exam.

The reason why Toronto is struggling is because of the coach (K.O). imagine Larry Smith ***shudder***.
This is the same situation as the Rockets from last year, incompetent coach, would it be correct if I said the Rockets can't win with Yao?
Don't judge a team or player by the stats sheet.

Hell No!!! You think Mobley jacks up ill advised 3's wait until we get a dosage of Carter and his wild jumpers. Marshall for Mo would be pretty much a wash since neither can play D or board. This a stupid trade on the Rockets part, Carter will get hurt agian and he will take crazier shots than Mobley and he would make dumber mistakes/decsions than Francis.

How about something as simple as Cato for Donyell Marshall as the principals? The Raptors need a center to slide Bosh to the 4 and we need a more solid PF to work with Yao. Marshall is not the TOTAL answer but he can play both ends of the court and has a nice jump shot and post moves. He would be an upgrade on Taylor as far as I am concerned.
