Reminded me of what this pilot did. (article) "In 2017, an RAF fighter pilot also left plane spotters shocked after tracing a 35-mile long pen*s in the skies above Lincolnshire"
Crazy stuff. Two storms in the gulf would mean we might see some Fujiwhara effect going on. Way too early to determine any possible outcomes with these. I've seen models from Mexico to Mobile for 14 already.
Whelp, she's turning starboard, cap'n. Tropical Depression Fourteen Advisory 2 Valid: 03:00 PM CDT Thursday August 20, 2020 Current Location: 15.5N, 80.8W Geographic Reference: 175 miles east of the Nicaragua / Honduras Border Movement: West-northwest at 15 mph Max Winds: 35 mph gusting to 45 mph Current Hurricane Severity Index: 1 out of a possible 50 points (0 size, 1 intensity) Max Predicted Hurricane Severity Index: 6 out of a possible 50 points (2 size, 4 intensity) Current Radius of Tropical Storm-Force Winds: 0 miles Max Predicted Radius of Tropical Storm-Force Winds: 75 miles Organizational Trend: Slowly Strengthening Forecast Confidence: Below Average Estimated Central Pressure: 1010 mb Key Points 1. We have adjusted the track northward with landfall farther up the Texas coast in this advisory. 2. The depression is predicted to make landfall over the Yucatan Peninsula late Saturday as a strong tropical storm. 3. There is a high degree of uncertainty once the system moves into the Gulf of Mexico. Our Forecast Tropical Depression Fourteen is slowly becoming better organized this afternoon. A reconnaissance plane is currently investigating the depression. So far, the plane has not found any sustained wind to tropical storm strength. The forecast track beyond the Yucatan Peninsula remains quite uncertain. Much will depend on the track of Tropical Depression Thirteen across the eastern Gulf of Mexico early next week. With two tropical cyclones in the Gulf of Mexico at the same time, the forecast for each is extremely complicated. Depending upon how strong Tropical Depression Thirteen becomes by the time it enters the Gulf, landfall of Depression Fourteen could occur anywhere from northeast Mexico to southeast Louisiana. In this forecast, we are taking both storms into the northern Gulf Coast on Wednesday. Depression Fourteen would be moving into the mid to upper Texas coast while Depression Thirteen is moving into the Florida Panhandle. Thirteen could well be a hurricane in the eastern Gulf of Mexico on Tuesday, so it will likely have a significant impact on Fourteen to the west. Models are indicating that Depression Fourteen may have very little moisture to work with as it nears the Texas coast Tuesday night. This, combined with increasing wind shear due to outflow from Thirteen to the east, is why we are indicating that Fourteen will be weakening as it makes landfall in Texas. Dry mid-level air across Texas at landfall may limit the potential for heavy rainfall, even though the system will be moving at only about 5 mph as it moves inland. Finally, it is possible that the storm will stall off the Texas coast on Tuesday and perhaps begin moving slowly west or southwestward toward the lower Texas coast, depending upon how it is being influenced by the stronger storm in the eastern Gulf. Expected Impacts on Land Yucatan: Power outages are likely. Widespread street flooding is also likely. Mid to Upper Texas Coast: Possible heavy rains have the potential to cause street flooding at a minimum. Power outages could also occur. Expected Impacts Offshore Squalls could reach the deepwater lease areas off of Texas and western Louisiana by Sunday night or Monday morning. Sunday may be the final day of good flying conditions. Winds of tropical storm force are forecast for the Texas lease blocks.
Bye bye Reapers. Just when all my 5 gallon pots of Carolina Reapers on the patio were starting to bloom. I don't want them blowing around, so I guess they'll have to go in the garage and die. But, if it flooded the last thing I need is 40 gallons of potting soil and dirt mixed in with the water. Ugh. What would you do?
I hope it doesn't go too far East. We need the rain in Central Texas......been sooooooooooooooooooo damn hot this month (for Texas) and dry. Everyday has been Triple Digits since the 1st.
