We have Rivers' early bird rights, can go over the cap to pay him up to $10m per season IIRC. Rivers @10m is a way better piece than Gordon imo. I bet we bring Benny Mac back for a portion of the MLE. We don't really need Gordon with those 2, beard and brodie around. Unless we win it all, we have to trade Gordon. IMO we will take a shot at picking up Otto Porter from the Bulls.
I like your thoughts a lot. Let’s not spend 10M on Rivers just because we can. I’d let him walk for anything over 4 to 5M per year. The biggest part of his appeal is he out plays his contract, IMO. If Gordon continues to play like last night we maybe be able to move him and his contract for another overpaid player that fits better. Ego should be able to find success with a larger role on his new team and we more than likely we get bigger, Fingers crossed.
His playoff history has been good Won’t forget him stepping up against the warriors Let’s not forget he’s a former three point champ Others are not unproven in the playoffs House last year ..
Driving hard to the bucket and finishing and/or getting free throw attempts gets Eric going. He struggles when comes out trying to hit long 3 pointers. Go to the bucket young Bro!
If I’m not mistaken Eric Gordon scored 50 points while Harden and Westbrook were inactive for that game. So it’s excellent that Eric has this moment to touch the ball more while Westbrook is out as a means of building up his trade value. The three headed facilitator of Harden/Westbrook/Gordon just doesn’t work for me. Gordon becomes more of a spot up shooter predominantly; which has probably become boring for Gordon at this point. One can’t ask Allen Iverson or MJ to just be a spot up shooter and be successful. Eric will never be at those l3vels but I’m coming to find out Eric Gordon needs more ball penetration touches to get his swag or feel for the game. Perfect for another team in need of a facilitator and the price tag that comes with him. But the Rockets need a third wheel that costs much less after this summer is over. Eric in my eyes was always going to be the odd man out this off season since Westbrook started to shine after the Capela trade. So basically Gordon is auditioning for a new home this off season and Gordon should be in lineups more with just Harden or just Westbrook.....probably not both. Possibly the only time Harden/Westbrook/Gordon should be together is in the final 5 minutes of the game; maybe. After Gordon works up a lather and fulfills his drive and penetration needs earlier in the game. Building that confidence to hit that deep 3 late in games. Recipe for success — Rockets will be champions.
EG was really good back in 2010 with the clips, and when he went to pelicans he was consider a offensive threat. He could take over games the way he had some shooting nights. He can go off, but its 2020, and who knows if gordon can still do it, but he has to be the 2nd option, he still has the skill set.
The fact that he went for 50 in what could be construed as his worst season ever, tells me that EGo is far from being done. He is still rusty and getting himself in game shape. The longer Russ sits the more confidence EGo will get. He shines in the playoffs so I have learned to not doubt him.
I'm glad Playoff EG recognized that the lanes were wide open for him to drive a truck through. He knows now that he can contribute in more ways than just launching 3s. I predict that OKC will be overly aggressive on defense, making them prime targets for Harden, EG, Rivers, House and Green to beat their man and drive into the paint.
Eric Gordon a team high +23. Stop the slander. Telling you guys he is the xfactor. He will pick it up and has. just has to shoot better.
i am sooooo glad he missed that last 3 at the and in order for him not to get false confidence in his 3pt bricks he should just keep driving to the rim cause this is integral part of rockets philosophy
If he takes westbrooks role, eg better shoots 2 rather than 3. His accuracy is too low. If he shoot 2 he can can draw foul to get and one
I really am not understanding what happened to his shot this year. This is a three point champion and as a Rocket shoots 36% from three on high volume but just can’t seem to make anything this year. In years past he was the only one I trusted to make a three when Open.
Gordon actually led that second unit. He actually got into the paint at will in the past two games. Even when he missed it was at the rim. I don't know what happened to his shooting in recent years, it's so ugly. But can't complain when he's such a positive elsewhere
as much as i remember and i watched a lot of games....he was always bad 3pt shooter on rockets except one or 2 superhot months a year that would raise his percentage to average... I challenge anyone to refute this claim of mine
