Will someone please explain to me what you don't like about hockey that makes baseball better. I lean towards hockey, but I'm practically Canadian having grown up in Detroit. I personally think that people that don't like hockey don't understand what is going on. It is so much faster than baseball you can't even compare the two sports on that level. I mean, has anyone ever seen a fat professional hockey player? You want to get physical? Please, no comparison. And I'm not talking about the fights or that crap that Bertuzzi pulled. Properly checking someone without taking yourself out of the play is pretty damn hard. Skill? I would put taking a one timer that actually hits the goal against hitting a pitch in play anyday. Scoring? OK, Baseball gets a slight edge here but not by much. You average hockey game will have about 3-5 goal, but it's not like there are a whole lot of 20 run games either. I havn't checked the stats, but the average goals per game is pretty close to the average runs per game.
Bonds Pujols Pedro Arod Vlad 5 of the top baseball players in the MLB today. Give me the 5 best NHL players.
which is better a broken ankle or a broken wrist I don't care for either . . but i have actually been to a baseball game rocket River
MLB in a landslide. Hockey sucks because: 1) It's hard to follow the puck. This little thing is flying everywhere and who knows who has possession. 2) It feels like when they do score, it's by accident. Their goals per shot attempt is like 5%. 3) You take out a player for a penalty and the time that he's out is called a power play for the other team? WTF! 4) Every time a goalie makes a save, the announcer on tv has an orgasm, but I think it's because the opposing player shot the puck into the goalie's pad or glove. 5) Off sides 6) Ice rinks 7) Epic matchups between Montreal and Toronto. That's like whole other planet.
I had to think a while to remeber the last NHL game i actually watched. I watched a few Blues games in the playoffs the year they got Gretsky(SP?) and havent watched more than sportscenter highlights since.
1. NFL 2. MLB 3. NCAA Football 4. NCAA Hoops 5. NBA 6. NHL NHL hockey is the most entertaining sporting event I've ever seen live, but it's far & away the worst to watch on TV. NFL is a close second, but if you include all the pregame activities (tailgating, fireworks, etc...) it's a better overall event. The fact that with no hometown team, I have to drive to Dallas to see a game means that I basically don't follow hockey until the playoffs. I could write a thesis on why I love baseball.
Hockey rules. I grew up playign baseball and played thru my sophmore year in college but now I woudl rather watch the worst hockey team in the NHL (Yes I have season tickets to the Blue Jackets) than to watch baseball. Until you goto a NHL game and watch it live it is tough to understand.
No offense to hockey fans, but I think hockey sucks! I just don't like anything about it. Maybe because I've never had a pro sports team here in Houston, I dunno, but I don't like it. MLB is our nation's pastime. There's nothing like baseball.
as a someone in a different hemisphere this is a interesting question used to struggle watching either on TV now that i have seen both live i can watch them on TV now, maybe the live experience has meant i understand the games as a whole now... really enjoyed watching the Stros last year live at MMP saw Caps v Rangers live a couple of years ago, had great seats and just loved it, the puck is much easier to follow live and the speed is great to watch, the contact between players and chacking/collisions into the boards is sensational like both, probably still wouldn't watch a whole game on TV without a fair degree of flicking to other channels especially baseball..... if i lived in the US would probably watch both live
I'd take hockey mostly because it's more exciting in person. I can see why someone who's never been to a game would like baseball better though. Although I have to say this poll does have a geographical bias
1. College Baseball 2. MLB 3. NFL 4. College Football 5. College Hoops 6. NBA I won't even watch sportscenter highlights of hockey. Yawn
baseball 51/nhl 49 baseball is as boring as ****. there is never anything happening except every 15 seconds, and it is herky jerky. in hockey, there is action every single minute. The Todd Bertuzzi incident was an isolated incident. That was not part of the game. The purpose of the check is to take them out from the development of a play.
Baseball sucks. I don't really watch either sport except in the most accidental manner, but from my limited experience, I can say hockey is about 100 times better than baseball. Nothing happens in baseball. If you don't have money riding on the outcome, I don't see how you would stay awake for a whole game -- which isn't clocked so it possibly could go on all night. Besides that, baseball doesn't provide for much strategy. Most of the time, only 2 players are doing anything at all. And, with the possible exception of the pitcher, there's no room for creativity. The only thing it really has an advantage on hockey is open-air stadiums where you might be able to get a tan.
1. NBA (only Rocket's games) 2. NFL 3. MLB 4. College Football 5. Soccer (not MLS games, but games when the USA plays other countries) 6.Racing...
